Preview wallop analysis
85 pound doe. 338 win mag, norma oryx 230gr. 70 yard shot. ~ 2700 fps impact. Exit hole shown. Bang flop, and i could see little smoke curley Q's coming out of the exit hole for a few seconds after the shot. Talk about wallop!!!
Yea, its a stack problem. If you get it rolling hard enough it'll flash out from lack of air.
I'm converting mine to 3" at some point this off season to test out. I think it's gonna rip pretty good with a proper sized exhaust pipe.
I'm not joking. Wallop analysis on sub-100 pound south eastern whitetail with big ass guns at close range inbound.
It don't get no more wallopy than a 270 grain 3/8 soft points smacking a 75 pound swamp donkey at 2600 fps
It'd be cool if winchester made the model 70 safari in .404 jeffrey. I understand why they don't, and what they do offer covers every need on earth, but it'd still be cool to be able to get into the classics for a good price.
Since the cz 550 safari is off the market, I don't think there's an...
The issue is older Krag rifles chambered in 6.5x55. Those might pop with European spec ammo (6.5x55 SE) which is designed for modern rifles.
6.5x55 ammo availability is pretty good. Immensely popular caliber outside of the US. I've never had an issue with it at all, even in the ammo shortage...
Yea. Either way, for someone to get shot a gun has to be pointed at them.
Lots of hunters out there these days who weren't raised by hunters. Many just don't know any better. Never attribute to malice what is easily explained by stupidity. Take the time to educate those who need educating.
Since we all have a compass and now a rangefinder in our pocket, this is easier than ever. You know where you are now, what the range to the animal was, and can use the compass to get an exact bearing. Mark where you shot from very consipicuously and you can know you are in the exact right spot...
I thought about yall today.
Was at cabelas (again) and a gentleman was explaining to some poor soul that 7mm-08 is an ok deer caliber for kids and women, but a .300 win mag is a far better choice for a man. Can kill them 1000 yards out with a win mag.
I brought my boy to cabelas today to kill some time. Passed by the gun counter. Wish I had a picture and transcript for all the foolishness that was happening.
Wax it before you leave the house and otherwise, don't worry about it.
Plenty of 100 year old blued/walnut rifles and shotguns out there still going strong. Sure, they start showing wear after a few decades, but that just means more to the next person. Unless you're doing the saltwater thing...
I started carrying a p365 on my hunts. Can hold 17+1 and is dramatically smaller and lighter than any 10mm or .44 or anything like that.
I'll take my chances with 13 or 18 9mm rounds. I figure my most likely threat is 2 legged anyway.
Oof. This thread makes my head hurt.
Rotating equipment reliability guy checking in here. Loctite use was not the root cause of this failure. Impossible to say what was with the information given. Odds are it was an assembly mistake of some kind, but it certainly wasn't just loctite altering...
You should always entertain every offer if you actually want to move the stuff.
There's some specific instances where certain things sell fast on certain websites (SWFA scopes here) but in general if you're trying to get maximum possible value for something, you're going to have to entertain...
Mines a dodge 2500 diesel 4 door long bed. Horrible on the mountain roads, but it's 1300 miles minimum one way for me. That thing is incredible for getting us there and getting us back. The last 10-30 miles just happen to be a little rough. Big spikey chains, slow speed, and scouting out...
Yea, check the other thread as well. I double posted somehow and this one didn't get the pictures. I can send more if you'd like to see any details in particular.
