if it’s for your wife out to 400yards. Go 22arc and 88s. My gf is the same way only likes shooting 22s but will shoot the 22arc well and actually enjoy ringing steel with it. My 22arc ruger bolt gun shoots and feeds great. Was cheap, weighs less than 9lbs with scope, suppressor, and sling...
Shot this 100lb boar kneeling at 50 yards with my 16” 243win. Federal 85gr trophy copper ammo. After hit before it even had a chance to run I could see a lot of blood spray across the ground. Went 10yards, had a 1/2” exit with a lot of blood. Pic is the entrance side.
I would stick with the 73s if they’re shooting good and the majority of your shooting with that rifle is under 600yds. I run 80gr eldm at 2650 in a 16” tikka 8” with waters mags, and run 75eldm at 2750 in a savage rifle 9” twist. The 80s will penetrate slightly better and have less wind drift...
If you don’t already have one You will probably need a mag that offers a longer coal than factory to get the 88s seated far enough out to get enough powder in the case. Along with a lot of freebore.
Just to be clear I never really even noticed the reward blast or headaches using the terminator brake on 24-26” barrels to much. In your wsm With 6 inches less barrel to burn powder and the brake being that much closer to your head the effect will be more dramatic than it is currently in a 24”...
20” 30Sherman Mag with an ultra 5 and a brake sometimes, 10.7 lbs all up with the can.
215bergers at 2950fps
245bergers at 2780fps
124hammers at 3650fps
Factory 300 PRC 212/220s 2750fps
I’d probaly stick with 20” since you’re running a brake. If you had a can I’d say 18”. I will say running...
Hornady just dropped 22arc superperformance ammo
70gr CX @3125 in a 24”
Retailers are showing it oos so should be hitting shelves soon.
A superperformance load with the 75/80gr elds would be great also
Ive been running a mild load of h1000 but run 5-7shot strings most the time in a reamed tikka sporter bbl. Yesterday my drops were all over the place, shot a group at distance in dead calm conditions that had wild flier. I checked velocity and my load has lost 100fps. Barrel count 480rds
I would think so otherwise kelbly, areo, bat, lone peak, impact, ARC,curtis, terminus, falkor, defiance, and more wouldn’t be taking the extra time and cost to nitride a lot of their stainless actions. Smoothness, corrosion resistance, and minimal thickness compared to coatings like cerakote are...
I’ve ran a suppressed 16” 30/06 for a while now and like it.
You might try another aux cord, changing battery’s, or getting the wand closer to the bore line. My magneto speed has been great and if it has ever not worked one of those 3 was the issue.
Yes for a bolt gun. I spoke KAK via email and they’re getting 2600fps from factory 75eldms out of 12.5” ARs and he said around 2800 with handloads. My ruger gen2 20” will push 80s 3100fps with cfe223 and 3020 with varget. Factory 75elds are 2930fps out of the 20” but I bet I could run them...
Cutting the barrel down to 12.5” on a ruger gen 2 22arc and running 75elds at 2850 with cfe223 handloads would make a nice short, light, low recoiling rig.
I’ve seen the write up thanks for your input. You don’t need to mod the mag though for coal with factory 22 or 6ARC. Just need to widen feed lips. I wanted to take it apart to make it easier but I don’t have to. If I were going to run a longer coal for handloads seems like it would be easier to...
I’ve seen where someone on here had it working with the m mags. But I was looking at it awhile back with 22&6arc in 223 mags they fit perfect coal wise but it rides a little low. I think you could easily sand or file the lips to widen them. The tikka mags are not easy to take apart, anyone have...
Why even post just to talk shit about the guys hunt in his own thread when they just went on the trip of life time with family and friends.
Ryan & company do a lot for our lifestyle of shooting and hunting. I appreciate all the myth busting, scope testing, and advice based off real life...
