Yet another great Rokslide thread!
This kind of ties into the South Africa thread. I had a handful of African shoulder mounts and after downsizing and looking at them for 20+ years, I sold most of them on Craigslist. I made a few bucks and cleared some space.
I do Euros myself on all deer...
I would do a bunch of surfing on accurate reloading. Tons of experienced posters and outfitters on that site.
Try to get a reliable sleeping pill from your Dr and test it out at home first. You've got to try to get some sleep on the plane. Biz class is very spendy but the economy plus can...
I have a selection of 4-5 knives that I've used over the years. I bought a mid 70's Case two blade folder that stays in my pack. Nice to have two blades. This year I broke down and bought the Outdoor Edge 5" for maybe $30. Used it for the first time and was sold. Handy to not carry...
A guy who owned a gun shop in our town got me into reloading over 30 years ago. Great results happened right away and I never looked back. 22-250, 7mm08, 7mag, .375H&H. I do shoot factory .40 cal handgun as I'm not really a high volume shooter. Oh and 12 GA shotgun reloader too.
I loaded for a buddy who had a Savage model 99. Since most all of those rifles are older I was somewhat cautious. I loaded 42 gr IMR 4064 under a 150 nosler BT. I also had my mom's Remington model 721 and loaded for it too. Can't find that data though.
I hosted Melissa Bachman in my home when she was blacktail hunting on the neighboring property about 6-7 years ago. I also follow her on FB. She's earned everything that she's achieved. Started as an unpaid intern doing video production. She goes to many sports shows...... yes she is...
I tried loading 150's for a buddy years ago and it just didn't work. In the past couple of years 140 TTSX has been the shit. Its a long projectile with lots of bore contact. Once Barnes invented the triple shock, it became a game changer.
Blood on a blued rifle is very corrosive, although up until now I go commando. When we were on Kodiak deer hunting we wore lightweight cotton gloves under what I would call household kitchen gloves. It really helped for the extreme cold.
One of my reloading mentors suggested building a 7mag in nothing less than 22". With a case of that size it needs a longer barrel to get the powder burned and get max efficiency. I have a 26" Douglas barrel and at times its not fun in thick stuff, it really helps with velocity.
I really like...
I blew this one. Pan seared in butter, baked in butter and honey at 300. Recipe called for 20-30 mins. I did 25 and should have checked at 15. Damn thing was DRY. Wife also bit down on the only #5 pellet. Luckily no dental work needed.
We moved into our forever house that we had built when I turned 50. 13 years later we sold it. It was 2400 ft on 172 acres in NorCal with 2 miles of private road behind locked gate. We made few mistakes as my builder.....who became a friend was a very experienced and thrifty guy.
My main...
South Dakota mulie. Always wanted to do this. Seared hot on all 4 sides, coated with cooked mushroom and shallot paste then wrapped in prosciutto. Store bought puff pastry. Recipe called for 25 mins at 400 but needed 40 mins. Pretty proud of myself. Next up is pheasant breasts from the...
