    Ultralight Ultralight Rifles

How big are those plates? Really cool to watch the bullet dropping in. Shows how fast a bullet is dropping that far out. That rifle is a keeper for sure.

And what about the Kidon folder? I've never used a folding stock, but it seemed like some of the guys liked those(??).

    Ultralight Ultralight Rifles

I agree. They're so lightweight already I'd opt for whatever you like functionally unless you're chasing the lightest weight possible. If you push the weight too much I think they can get pretty squirrely. The sub-3# Little Big Gun has been challenging to keep consistently sub-MOA; it will...

.223 for bear, mountain goat, deer, elk, and moose.

That's great performance and a great story. Those 88s and the examples of the 80ELDX seem like they both do really well. What's you muzzle velocity? Around 2575? (Assuming 2,400 @ 109 yards). What's your barrel length and load with that?

    Copper Ammo Recomendations

Not sure if this is in reference to the E-Tips, but all of mine were reloaded. I literally have pages of data from multiple rifles trying to find something that shot half as well as my Barnes and GMX loads. I bought a crapload of seconds thinking they would be a great deal (and a couple boxes of...

    Ultralight Ultralight Rifles

Definitely the way to go on these rifles. This is the one I put on the Smoke Composites. Their lightest one is way heavier and not soft at all. I have to admit, your work is much more artful and better looking than mine! I'm sure it's pretty obvious by now, but a rifle’s looks is way down on my...

    Copper Ammo Recomendations

Although they've always worked well enough, I think I've noticed that as well, for whatever reason. Not a huge difference IME, but seems to be some anyway. E-Tips might be okay if they happen to shoot in your rifle, but I bought a bunch of them and they've been the hardest of the monos for me...

    Ultralight Ultralight Rifles

It's similar to flip-flop foam, but a little less dense and softer (it was the backer of some kind of sign thing that, years ago, hung on a former co-worker's door - I convinced him I really needed it 😅) Anyway... I pre-cut and sand the pad to fit the butt. Attach double sided carpet tape to...

The other small caliber (not 223 or 6creed)

Thanks for posting this, I like this idea. I have a SA 700Ti that hasn't done anything for years. I've been thinking about using it for a superlight rifle in a smaller cartridge. This would work with the .473 bolt as is. It would be about perfect. I've looked into the Dasher and GT, but this...

Your yellow dog looks like he wants credit for the assist...😅 Good boy!

Do you have any experience with 77TMKs to compare to the 80ELD-X performance? E.g. penetration and terminal performance along their path? Looks like they performed fantastically at that velocity, which would be within reach for a 223 as far as I typically shoot anyway.

6mm and .223/5.56 ILLEGAL for big game in Alaska!

Apparently the the 223 and 77TMK has a lot of knockdown power. That moose above dropped like it was hit with a bolt of lightning...

    Ultralight Ultralight Rifles

Let's get the 22 Hornet version. I don't know exactly what it would be for, but talk about a nice rifle. Maybe for hunting small, but dangerous game.

.223 for bear, mountain goat, deer, elk, and moose.

👍 That's exactly why you see nitrile gloves pulled over wool army surplus gloves in all my pictures. The wool gloves also offer some protection from accidental cuts, which are especially bad IME if you’re cutting up a bear. They're especially nice when it's cold. My hands stay warm cutting stuff...

6mm and .223/5.56 ILLEGAL for big game in Alaska!

There is one glaring problem with this: Most guides have exactly zero experience using smaller caliber cartridges on big game, anecdotal or otherwise. Their opinions are often -less- informed than those people with anecdotes from 3 or 5 or 10 animals (not to mention the 100s of examples here on...

    Ultralight Ultralight Rifles

I bought the Plastic Dip brand, because that's what the store carried, but I think any brand I've seen would work fine. I get everything ready, apply a light coat to the rings, get the scope set correctly (there's enough working time) and tighten everything down. The next day I use a toothpick...

    Ultralight Ultralight Rifles

Yes, I've vetted the shit out of it...😅 On a more serious note, I got the idea from a guy who mounts scopes on people's rifles professionally (not the only thing he does). This is the only situation I've needed something like that, but it did stop the slipping I was having.

    Ultralight Ultralight Rifles

If you swear at it a lot the third time you're tightening it down and call it a bunch of names....I find that helps. The only problem I've had so far is the scope slipping when on a 300 HAM’R. I now put liquid electrical tape on the rings regardless of cartridge and zero slipping. No...
