    Ultralight Ultralight Rifles

Good call on 223 in the Solo rather than ARC. I tried an ARC barrel on a Solo a while back and the cases stuck just like my 30HRT did. If you go with the BCA side charger with a full mass bolt carrier it -might- work okay, but -will- be way heavier. You could block the gas on your Grendel and...

    Ultralight Ultralight Rifles

About 6 months ago I looked through a Vortex 3x prism and PA 3x prism. Although I don't remember the exact models, optically, the PA was head and shoulders better than the Vortex. With respect to one possibly replacing one of my 2-7s, the PA was "hmmm...this is pretty good, maybe". The Vortex...

What does it take to kill a grizzly?

And I don't know about grizzlies, but those grouse loads can kill black bears anyway. Years ago, when I was 'greenhorn', I ran out of the 4 rounds of ammo in my magazine which I thought would always be plenty of rounds. My black bear rodeo ended up with a very much alive 6' boar just with his...

.223 for bear, mountain goat, deer, elk, and moose.

I usually shoot through ribs, lungs/heart, but on this last, sample of one, bear, hitting a bunch of bone, it seemed like there might have been more penetration(???). Have you seen anything like that?

That thing is sweet! Great job. What does the barrel weigh? Do you have any pics of the barrel and contour details? What was the cost of the barrel after finishing it?

What does it take to kill a grizzly?

300 BLK can work really well as a big game/small game gun too. These bullets might be the best bet for loading 30 Cal small game loads. https://www.grafs.com/dealer/catalog/category/categoryId/920 I've tried a lot of different bullets/projectiles for 30 cal small game loads. Mostly I've used...

What does it take to kill a grizzly?

I've been loading "grouse loads" for years in 30-06, 308, 300 HAM’R, 300BO and 223. 233 works better than the rest. I'm using Speer 46 grain FP for the 223 at around 22LR velocities. I think with something like 77TMKs for big game, and light bullets for small game, the 223 is the best option...

I have brass and dies for that cartridge of you’re in need of them.

.223 for bear, mountain goat, deer, elk, and moose.

I really have to admit, this is probably his best video ever. I was literally laughing out loud while watching it. It was as funny as an episode of The Office with Dwight and Michael being interviewed about hunting with a 223.

.223 for bear, mountain goat, deer, elk, and moose.

This combo has to vie for the Most Efficient Killer prize. What was the approximate penetration of the 88s?

.223 for bear, mountain goat, deer, elk, and moose.

I would like this video embedded at the beginning of this thread as a Public Service Announcement. It would save a lot of reading. When I've looked for info on terminal ballistic tests, and click on something from this guy, I've learned the back button is my friend. I'm not sure he actually...

Help me spend my money! Kimber vs Christensen (2 YEAR UPDATE)

Nevermind...I didn’t notice this thread is 2 years old...I'll go back and find out what you ended up with. The suspense!😅 Personally, I think your first instinct was pretty darn good, probably in 6.5CM. That's a good basic do-everything rifle, which I think can drop another 1/2 pound or so with...

Overthinking my 7PRC ELDX for mulies...

How long before you go? I responded to your Kimber thread a few days ago. Had the exact same problem with mine. You could have the Kimber up and running literally overnight. BTDT.

.223 for bear, mountain goat, deer, elk, and moose.

Why did you shoot it twice? Did it need a follow-up, or? Just wondering about the details.

That's exactly how I was thinking of it the other day making it. Sort of a good-for-everything spicy Italian-Breakfast sausage hybrid.

    Ultralight Ultralight Rifles

I don't have any recipe per se. I just use salt, sugar, sage, oregano, garlic powder, red pepper flakes and maybe rosemary and/or anise seed as well. Kind of just eyeball it. Fry some up to see if it needs any more of anything, which it usually doesn't. Not an exact science to be sure!.🤣

    Ultralight Ultralight Rifles

I have eaten grizzly, but not too often. It's okay here (no fish) but not as good as black bear. I eat black bear sausage 5 days a week. I gave my grizzly last year to neighbors and they made it into sausage. It was okay, but even ground, the meat seemed stringy and "tendony". We mostly hunt...

    Ultralight Ultralight Rifles

Y'all better get busy with those UL-ULs! Time to see your action shots! This was another black bear from yesterday evening with the Little Big Gun. Not my best shooting, but still got it done pretty well. Had to gut him and go back up the mountain today...glad I wasn't dragging an 8lb rifle...
