Off the top of my head, 27 grains of MR2000, 25.5 AA2520 and 24.3 SW Tactical have all hit or gone over 2,700 with no pressure issues in a couple of different barrels. 26ish grains of LVR is probably another one but has had more extreme spreads and less accuracy for me, so far.

Fantastic!
Alright guys, time to buy those out in a week so they make more and maybe even expand to other chamberings. Mine is shooting 77TMKs sub-MOA and is a great barrel.
I'm taking StupidLightweight's advice and not doing any more ported barrels for these, if at all possible. Unported...
If you do decide it works well as a side charger, you could loose the buffer/spring and cut the back off your bolt carrier. That would free up all the stock options.
I don't know much about pronghorns, but that looks like a really good one.👍
Haven't seen them mentioned, but does anyone have experience with Maker bullets? I just bought some to try out in 300BO and maybe HAM’R as well. Curious to see how they'll do.
By the way, where are some of you guys...
Regarding the question in the second sentence,
I doubt it has ever been or even can be quantified that closely.
A "Big enough" cartridge on the upper end is generally agreed upon (like a 375 H&H e.g.). The lower end on how much is enough is going to be a pretty open ended question. So far for...
I don't want to make light of this, but ultimately it was caused by pointing a firearm at another person. I know that's easier said than not done though. Happens more often than it should, especially with certain individuals.
That's the cause of the cases I personally know about, or -maybe- a sloppy trigger spring for the safety release firing.
Back when I was adjusting Walker triggers, my neighbor suggested that he preferred to leave enough sear engagement to have a tiny amount of creep to insure this doesn't...
For whatever reason (most likely culprits- dirty, trigger spring mis-adjustment, sear mis-adjustment or a combination of these) your sear isn't getting far enough back. If you’re at all mechanically inclined, it's fairly easy to pull the barreled action out of the stock take a look at what's...
I noticed the same thing with the Farrowtech while hunting Kodiak last year. The Smoke Composites closed stock might be a little better. A collapsible is definitely better.
I've taken to hunting with a round chambered on a potential approach or still hunting with these because they are a...
Come on, half of these things aren't even black...WTF!?!? 😅
I may as well chime in. These are repeat pictures, but my bolt rifles haven't been in the field for a couple years now. The black rifles are winning me over as well.
The 223 thread was pivotal for me in deciding these could replace...
Have you shot many animals at that range with your 30-06? Just wondering if that variable is accounted for.
Not that I doubt what you're saying at all. I mentioned a few weeks ago there's nothing I've ever harvested over the last 30 years that I couldn’t have taken with a 308 and 180 Corelokts.
Well, actually, not even that. It'll be about 2" before the bullet contacts the rifling. So the extreme OCD guy goes 1-7 to get his two full twists in a 16" barrel... 😅
The last time I spoke to them was, I think, August. Sounded like they were close then so not sure why it's not up yet. Could be they're just extremely busy with making barrels in general (?).
I'd keep checking with them and letting them know you're waiting. Could be a case of the squeaky wheel...
Haven't handled a Wiland specifically, but none of the PCC specific handguards have provisions for running a gas tube, not that I've ever seen, anyway.
There's nowhere to run a tube inside and through the barrel nut, and the receiver port for the gas tube is often partially blocked by the...
So far, for me, that's been a range dependent answer. From what I've seen, I think my 125BT HAM’R loads edge out my 223 loads out to probably 250 or so. By edge out I mean similar or even better terminal performance and probably more exits and better blood trails. Out to 250 or so, the HAM’R...
The bolts stay completely locked upon firing until you pull back the charging handle. There are no gas system forces driving the bolt carrier, so it doesn't move until you move it.
The bolt -can- get bumped open while carrying in certain situations, especially rough country, but like Taudisio...
