Three's a crowd, ha, let's do this. We've seen some glimpses from Ben R. and it sounded like there's a V2. I'd be interested in hearing a few things on the process like material selection, bag size, what's working/not working, etc as you develop a possible future UL bag.
The axis hybrid would be better for moving in…..but the unc foundry would be warm, as it’s a hard shell and puffy combined. Certainly not a “packable” piece. If it’s going to be really cold and you’re never taking that foundry piece off, that would make a ton of sense, or if you’re sitting a...
Yeah for sure, but hair could be really good!
If it does hit, hopefully it’s enough to push them down a bit. Obviously the higher slope access gets limited. Seems like we always get a later warmup, hopefully you catch a good window.
I've notcited the Leica wants to flicker a bit as you move the image/pan, I think it is the LED display just reacting? Mine is bright and setting wise it sure seems like it is just fixed levels, but I do see some variation in brightness when moving the RF.
I’m not sure why you would. The K4 stays have curvature set into them, so I guess if you were trying to match a specific profile and the SG one was better for you, sure.
The upper fabric part of the frame is adjustable to compensate for different stay lengths, so as long as it fits in the...
I think the idea of not carrying rain gear requires a pretty heavy caveat on terrain, elevation, and distance from vehicle. A true backpack style hunt is not a great idea without it in October generally. The lows can get freezing, snow could happen, and throwing wind in could really put you in...
Got a response from Sitka, kudos to them for actually addressing it. So they launched this product, but not with the intended fill, AND they used the lower grade of primaloft gold down blend (given the fill volume I expect that was to keep pricing/performance balanced).
I've bolded the...
totally agree on damned if you do/don't. I've personally never grabbed this piece due to weight and windstopper, would prefer a little more breathable biased version for that layer.
I think Sitka has a hard time because they really try to push the envelope on pieces, and some of them flop...
@Tony Trietch did you ever get an answer on Sitka on this Hyperdown fill being the high end product in the sleep bag, and the primaloft down gold blend in the jacket/pants? If not I'll ask them to comment. When I stopped into their place in Bozeman the sales folks had no clue. Even weirder...
half of it is fleece so that's obviously quiet. I would think the 240 would be a touch quieter honestly. The CL face fabric is quiet, certainly more than most soft shells, but it isn't dead quiet.
I don’t care for them in general, but hydrapak force is a really robust bladder, and has an insulated tube. It’s been far better than any other I’ve used.
Funny story. Had work down in Bozeman today so popped into the “Depot” real quick to get hands on this new mega down puffy. Got help right away, super nice folks. When he stated telling me about the fill having little gold flecks in it (ie Allied Expedry) I had to laugh. They knew it was...
That’s one of the original sky series packs, from around 2014 or so? Maybe earlier.
That’s the original Krux frame and if I had to guess the sky 5100 bag. That lumbar pad is totally jacked up - is it even connected? The Velcro tab on the bottom wraps over the bottom of the frame edge to...
