Several years back I started playing with Crimson Trace grips. I did a lot of shooting with them on different platforms (G20, G23, G19, J-frames, N-frames...later on LCR's). End result on all platforms (for me) was the following:
1. I'm faster on first and follow-up shots with irons when...
I don't have an issue with the cheek weld off hand or rested in an upright position. Prone suffers as expected but is still workable. That was while using .82 rings. Moving to the .75 but I haven't spent time shooting with them.
I have tan with webbing on this one. There's no checkering. The...
Hey Marty, the one I received was 21.5 oz without the recoil lug.
I previously mounted a 6x SWFA in TPS 30mm lows (.82) on an Area 419 20 MOA rail. Plenty of room all around with that.
Recently I put a 3-12x42 (Klassik) in APA lows (.75) on the same rail. I had to place the rings/scope a bit...
The massive room range is their niche.
I think there was a desire from some hunters to be able to use the higher powered 24x (and higher x) versions in quick use as a spotting scope to avoid the need to carry another optic. This would mainly be for zooming to evaluate rather than finding game...
Hey N2TRKYS,
I've got one of the following. If you're traveling up my way anytime soon you're welcome to handle it and shoot it if you wish.

I understand some folks want perfect match up.
Myself, I'm very happy with a chassis level inlet, sitting level with the bottom of the port, below offside bolt release, wider bolt handle inlet, and running level to the end of the barrel channel. Even a standard extremely free floated barrel...
I picked up a VG mini stock a while back, swapped stocks, and have been shooting it on the 6ARC. From prone I much prefer the VG. Offhand...I'm still not an absolute either way. I do feel like I'm better able to follow a "mover" (side to side) while shooting offhand with a classic grip.
I do...
Excellent on the reliability. The dual focal plane reticle is very interesting to me.
They have their niche, I understand that. I do wish they'd depart from it a bit and make a lower zoom ratio.
Did you try adjusting focus at the higher powers? With the NX8 1-8, I need to adjust the focus at...
I always use a saddle now, regardless of if I'm using a platform, lockon, or climber. I keep the tether semi-tight when seated or standing facing way from tree....semi-tight as in I can rotate, but if the stand dropped out from under me it would only be 6"+/- to tension. Worn like that, a...
I'm interested in spending some time with it shooting off-hand and unsupported. I'm planning to shoot the same barreled action in the Stocky sporter, VG, and the Rokstock from prone, seated rested, and standing off hand. I think it will be as good as it gets from prone. I think muzzle rise will...
Same here. After hunting it pretty hard this year and shooting it along with a few other VG and classic stocks the last couple of weeks, I really like it as an offhand/upright grip as is. The only time I wish it was a closer/more closed VG is when prone. Everything's a trade off.
Unless you need the weight savings (24.5 oz vs 20.5 oz), the compact size, or the ability to drive nails, the RS 1.2 2.5-15 beats the NXS out in my experience. I only use 1 RS 1.2 (and it's been for a limited time) but I use a lot of the NXS 2.5-10's. Aside from the 3 things I mentioned, the NXS...
