    What’s the lightest action?

Defiance has the Ti X action. Titanium, DLC coated, with integral scope rail and recoil lug at 16.8 oz for short action, 18.1 oz for long action. https://defiancemachine.com/actions/ti-x/

    Mdt field stock

I've spent some time recently shooting one on a .223 Tikka. The forend on mine is very stiff, the AICS is nice, the grip works ok for me, the LOP is adjustable and spacers are included, comb is adjustable right out of the box. The thinness of the comb and toe that Form mentioned, the weight...

HNT 26, Tikka 223 Magazine Compatibility

In that vid they don't mention the .223 hunter mag. I've used their standard short action mag in various AICS pattern bottom metals...and was expecting the same with the .223. However, the .223 is made slightly larger so that it won't insert in any of the other AICS bottom metals I own. The...

HNT 26, Tikka 223 Magazine Compatibility

This irks me so badly. I was really happy when Hawkins came out with the "almost" flush fit 223 mags. I ordered 3 of them for use in multiple AICS fed .223/.223AI's as soon as I could. For hunting/calling I much prefer a flusher fit mag for carry. They only fit the one rifle that had Hawkins...

WTB WTB - Mini Bugout Orange Grivory Scales

If anyone has factory orange grivory scales for a mini bugout you don't want, I'd like to purchase them. I know folks like to customize these so if you have a pair of takeoffs sitting around I'd like to put them to use. Please pm. Thanks.

    Realistic Shooting Distances

It would depend on the situation. I use anything I can to build a solid position, trekking pole(s), tensioned tether, tree, bracing on bone, again, depending on the angle/etc. At some shots/angles I can build a solid position and get locked in...other times offhand is the only option. For me...

KRG Echo - Sporterish version of bravo for tikkas

I pulled them out to compare this specifically and the Echo seems to have noticeably more flex. Using a lite contour, it's a nonissue. The Fieldstock's rear action screw is captured. It's less irksome to me than the captured front action screw of the Echo. I can live with either.

KRG Echo - Sporterish version of bravo for tikkas

I'm using a sporter/lite barrel in each, so neither were going to touch. I'll try to check it again tonight to verify, but I think the Fieldstock was the stiffer of the two.

KRG Echo - Sporterish version of bravo for tikkas

Thanks. From their page, it looks like the Mamba mags allow 2.337". https://mambamag.com/mamba-magazines/ Tikka T3 SA .223 - 2.337"

KRG Echo - Sporterish version of bravo for tikkas

I've been playing a bit with the Rokstok, Echo, and MDT Fieldstock as well. I've put the most rounds downrange using the RS and MDT. It's hunting season so range time is not at the forefront. Spacers, flush cup, and adjustment knob are on the way for the Echo before I shoot it more...the...

    Stockys tikka stock

I've been shooting one of the "classic" grip models for Tikka with Lite barrel inlet for a while. It's a good stock for offhand shooting and hunting where someone won't be shooting from prone. Free float is even and fairly close. Stock is stiff enough that I can't make the barrel touch. I think...

    Saddle versus Millenium M7

Yeah, it just means having a toe/heel out, not a major issue.

    Saddle versus Millenium M7

This or the XOP Cold World are both good to go, and are are both on sale right now. The only reason I'd mention the Cold World is it's extra width. I can't turn my boot sideways between where the cables join the platform with the Retrograde. It makes a difference for me when used as a hybrid...

.223 for bear, mountain goat, deer, elk, and moose.

I've been using 3 of the Ascension Industry mags for a little while now and they've been great. Quick/easy swap. I've put a fair number of rounds through them and haven't had any issues with them. Did a lot of feed/function with dummy rounds and they've been great. All of that was done using...

.223, 6mm, and 6.5 failures on big game

I've had 3 times where bullet performance didn't match what I expected/assumed. All three ended up with dead animals, but the bullets (in those instances) failed to meet my expectations/assumptions of how the bullet should perform. It's not a bullet failure for game to run. It's not a bullet...

    RokStok

The stock's design may cause it to have an unbalanced areodynamic force that will result in it's flight path being elliptical. When used in this manner it should be referred to as a RokaRang. Make sure it's legal to use in the area you're hunting.

Hawk Saddle Platform vs. XOP EDGE – Which One for a Beginner?

The Novix Raider platform is worth looking at. It's lighter, larger, and not a massive increase in cost over the XOP Edge. To me, the extra room on this platform is nice. It's a nice blend of size, weight, and cost. Comparing numbers: XOP - 5 lbs 6.4 oz, 13.75"x11", $119.99 Novix Raider - 3...

KRG Echo - Sporterish version of bravo for tikkas

Echo should arrive Friday. MDT Field Stock should arrive Wednesday. I'll be hunting from now until early Feb, so I probably won't spend much time with them until then. I will try to list some basics/weights/etc for them here in case anyone is interested in how they compare as I am.

Help me build a sheep rifle!

There's things I'd change about it, but the Echelon CF Versa is the best light Tikka stock I've used so far. I'm looking forward to the RS Lite.

KRG Echo - Sporterish version of bravo for tikkas

When I ordered, I made the assumption that the cheek piece adjustment knob was part of the package and that a QD flush cup was part of the butt. Looking at it now, I don't think either of those things are true. KRG notes that the LOP spacers are not included...and I can see by reading that they...
