I think Trails West has a great record of good hunts and good bulls. In this case I don’t think the points and budget fit.
If a good experience and hunt is priority over a 350” bull you have quite a few options. Upping the budget a little would still help depending on what you choose.
350 bulls take lots of money, lots of points, lots of luck, or lots of skill and effort. Or some combination.
You don’t have lots of points and your budget isn’t high enough. I’ll let you decide if you have the luck or skill and effort.
There’s really no place for this Kind of thing in this thread. 😁
But this is exactly what the husband should have been doing. Maybe he did/tried. I would hope I would have. My wife doesn’t hunt but she would expect this kind of attitude from me.
Back to the memes!
7 points and a bull significantly bigger than low 300s is a Tall order. Unless the budget is really good. And even then it won‘t be a slam dunk.
If you turned down a low 300s bull in the western Wyoming wilderness areas, at least on the ones draw able with 7 points…you might be accused of...
The first thing to realize is the fancy hunting brands are marketing companies first.
Lined and unlined wrangler hiking pants. Swiss tech puffy, condor grid fleece. Gloves from a farm store. There are other “cheap” options too. I bought a high quality down parka on close out one spring for...
Make sure that you see and like a taxidermist’s work before committing. Especially for predators. There is little accounting for taste and we all have different ideals. As can be seen on this thread.
And when the influencers are victims of their own success, harder to draw tags and seeking ever more content, they start filming their co-conspirators’ hunts.
At what point in the bull‘s quick death did the bullet fail?
Sorry for the sarcastic remark. I get trying to perfect performance. I like a bullet to exit, but it’s a little hard to argue that when the bull didn’t go real far and apparently died quickly.
I’d be selling your tikka and buying a seekins havak or element depending on your budget and weight tolerance. You’ll then have a fine rifle, backed by one of the better customer services in the industry.
With regards to ammo. You do make some compromises with monos but they still kill...
For years I used a pair of cut down cross country ski poles with a cross bolt through them and heat shrink tubing.
Now I’m using the short primos tripod trigger sticks with a Spartan davros. And a Spartan bipod. Depending on the stand I do both sitting and prone. Sometimes both on the same...
Way too many people spend all their time on the range or culling operations and think that directly translates to successful hunting of elk, moose, or bears.
Once we start talking about gutting then cutting the carcass into smaller pieces, I'd much rather just use the gutless method and have very manageable pieces to move away from the gut pile. And I actually pretty much always just use the gutless on elk. For me its the fastest way to get pieces...
🙄. Anyone who says you should drag a gutted elk carcass any meaningful distance has never killed an elk. And anyone who thinks human pee is any kind of deterrent to a grizzly bear must have different pee than every other human.
The kill site is already full of human scent and this “expert”...
