I made it 30 days on strict carnivore, then another 30 on carnivore with a serving or two of fruit through the day.
I still eat 75% meat with fruits and veggies and the occasional potato or sweet potato.
The main issue I had with strict carnivore was wanting variety. I never thought I could...
Thanks for the replies. I believe I’ve got a light long sleeve synthetic base layer around here somewhere…I’ll have to dig it out.
I’ve tried the loosening up my boot laces trick to keep my feet warm and no luck. I’ve googled how to improve circulation a bunch of times and didn’t find anything...
I guess I should’ve said that when I said I plan on layering up. I’ll be putting on those first lite zip up mid weight merino long Johns and puffy pants. I’m a cold blooded feller

Trying to get everything dialed in for mid-late October mule deer. Forecast is looking like mid teens-high 20’s at night so pretty chilly.
My camp is about 1 1/4 mile from where I hunt and it’s fairly steep uphill. The way I hunt this area is hike up in the dark and I’ve got a few different...
I hear ya about not all horses being fit for the mountains…the one time I tried to do some packing and I planned on using my rope horses my wife asked me if my horses would be fine packing in. I believe my exact quote was “These SOB’s can run down a steer, go left on the dally and then turn and...
Oh boy where do I start…
Hunt more. You’ll never have more free time than you do now
Try harder in sports. Or actually just try at all. You’re wasting your god given talent by being “too cool” to work hard
Rodeo more
Hunt more. The wolves are coming for the mule deer and elk sooner than you...
The 3:30 mark perfectly resembles the one time I decided I could be a packer. When my wife asked me if my horse would be fine packing into the mountains I believe my exact quote was “I’ve roped 500 steers off that prick, how hard can it be to walk down a trail?”
Rodeo time

I don’t have a lot of fear of people stealing my waypoints. Especially since most of them are labeled “Hellacious hike: no animals”

Interesting stuff…it’s always cool to learn about local folklore from different cultures.
The wild men bit reminds me of the movie “Last of the Dogmen”, if you’ve ever seen it.

Awesome story and sounds like an awesome adventure! Did you by chance tell any of the other locals that you came across about this to see if they had any ideas?

So, I’ve had horses my whole life. Grew up riding, spent 5 years starting colts, roping and brandings, team roping, blah blah blah but never really hunted off them. But I’ve found a few spots I’d like to hunt that using my horse would make it so much easier.
I’m certainly not against hiking...
Good for you man! Keep up the good work!
Don’t listen to anyone who says that anything is unsustainable, all it takes is discipline and willpower and you’re doing it!
