I recently got a pair of the Alverstones but have only wore them a few times. They fit my feet alright but not as good as the pair of zamberlans I had before. That being said they are a super high quality pair of boots and I have no doubt they’ll hold up really well.

I’m hoping to try calling a little more this spring. I’ve only tried it a few times and never gave it a real chance.

I've learned a ton from listening to just about every podcast on elk that I could find. There's a ton of info out there and a lot of it can be found for free, but it'll be a lot harder to sift through all the info that way as opposed to paying for something like the elk 101 course
After hunting in pretty popular areas the last few years I am going to change it up this year and hunt some low density elk areas in hopes of finding some elk that haven't been hunted quite as hard. I am sure I will have a lot fewer encounters so I am hoping I will be able to take advantage of...
My best luck has been glassing small grassy openings on good weather days from mid day on. Sometimes I am only be looking at 2 or 3 open areas about 20x20 yards surrounded by a sea of thick timber. It gets pretty boring looking at such a small area, but it has been productive for me the last...
I've killed 2 elk the last 2 years with kudu points and have been pretty happy with them. Not the best blood trails, but they shoot well and neither animal went far.
Most of the drives I have done have been just me and a good buddy that I hunt with very well. It usually is more of a still hunt through cover with the other guy sitting on potential escape routes.
I've relied on calling mainly because of the terrain I hunt. One of these years I'll hunt a little more open country when I can put my binos to work and see if I can stalk in and kill a bull.
I've been using the TAG Bags for about 4 years and have had great luck with them. I've been thinking about trying the Argali bags, but with how well the Tag Bags have been for me, I don't know if I could go away from them.
4 years elk hunting.
3 bulls killed
1 spike with a rifle
1 spike with a bow
1 5 point with a bow
averaged about 12 days each season hunting elk between my and my buddies tags
I did that last year with my spring bear. I was about 5 miles in on a weekend hunt and didn't want to make a second trip back in just to get the hide out so I took about a 10"x10" piece with evidence of sex attatched. I am much more concerned with getting all the meat out than the hide.
I am choosing 50 yards as my MER.
