Still a bit for us folks waiting on the LO draw.
Have to see what friends drew tags and what will be extra for the family. Hoping for a first rifle bull for the wife and fourth season cow for my father. 🤞 a archery elk tag for me. Just have to see.
Good luck.
One question…
Why isn’t Mule Deer at the very top of the forum list here on da slide…. We all know mulies are the grandest and greatest of creatures- so why not put them in their proper place or just above “announcements” at the top of the forum!!!
Tongue and cheek boys! Have a good talk.
Haha dude in 2021 - 1700 people moved to wyo 😂😂🤦🏼♂️..
Colorado has had 20-60k move here each year over the past 5 years…
So good to hear the Colo commission is looking at 90-10 or at least 80-20 here in Colo as well as elimination of otc as it is needed to be even fair to Colorado residents...
If only one I pry choose the kowa 77. My biggest is a zeiss 85 and I will pry buy a swaro 95 set up to replace it. These are only used in July and August for the most part.
Once the season opens I only carry swaro 15z as by then I 100% know the single buck I am chasing and he will stick out...
He is right at the CPW allocation recommendation meeting the CPW flat out said not to worry about revenue…. Don’t even let it enter your mind we have the money was the sentiment!!
Or all the “where is the money coming from” arguments are flat invalid at this point due to new moneys available...
I have one pack a kifaru. Had to send in the frame to get fixed and have new shoulder straps put on this year. Just got the frame back 3 week turn around and 59 usd to fix 👊👍.
One thing I have found as true is lightweight = less durable and last thing I want when solo chasing a big buck is a...
Get to elevation at least a week early and slowly gain elevation to acclimate.. Drink a lot of water.
1500’ ft a day give or take is about all your body can keep up with.
I live at 8200’ and it takes me 6-8 weeks of spending 2-5 days a week above 12k’ before I feel acclimated to 12k+. I...
It started in the winters of the late 1990’s.. Marino was just not available in layers like we think of until Patagonia put out some great wool in about 2002-03 or so. We were into snow machines for skiing access big up and downs in heat management and sweat so started bringing sweat layers and...
Sometimes in the winter I bring 2 cotton shirts to fill up 😂.. Not a huge problem for me switching them. I know cotton kills right?
Nothing dumps heat like a wet cotton T-shirt. I don’t have a problem getting them dry for the next days hike even on multi day winter trips.
Anyway something...
I do 1.5k to 2k real vertical many days at 10-12k ft in elevation. Both in the winter and summer. Takes 2.5 hrs…. No way to stay sweat free no matter what you do. My solution is one many alpinists use to this day.
Cotton T-shirt and a Marino layer. I open the vents on my pants and sweat it out...
The good old days…. The good old days. Interesting but in the 1930-40’s around Aspen/marble elk were sparse or a delicacy and deer were everywhere.
Same scene in the 50’s when there were more deer than elk in the roaring fork valley. You could get 3 deer a year and with 6 kids that is how you...
Yea most times leave the spotter when hunting and bring the 15z instead of my spotter.
Or when the season starts I have spent 25 +- days scouting w my 85 mm zeiss spotter along. Or I know where I want to be and the single buck I am targeting = he is always very obvious usually w the naked...
Funny I put in first then put in my wife a week later after talking w some friends about muzzy elk hunts.
Man I got a talking to when she saw the bill…. Or it was “I saw only one New Mexico app come through I know that was for me” 😂👍🤦🏼♂️ Passive aggressive reminder I guess.
Got hers done...
