    Yes, technically off-grid, but on a black top rd :) I had to make a commitment to my wife that if I was going to spend her money on a cabin, it had to be NICE, nice enough for her to enjoy, no mice, nice flooring and furniture, etc.

    Poured footings last fall and worked on it all summer, was able to sleep in it in October. 6500W solar and a pellet stove for heat. That will be enough power to run a 1/2 hsp well pump some day if I go that route. still had to go through the WI inspection process, footings, construction...

    Feel good about getting into elk on the first day, count it a success, there are way more cows running around than bulls, and if you found one on the first day, I would suspect your going to get another chance in the next 5 days, at a cow or a bull. I'd pass on the first day.
