I always have wet wipes when out in the field (for obvious reasons); I assume they would work as a pretty solid temporary cleaning material for a knife in the middle of a field dressing session

I totally get this. I have a replaceable blade for this exact reason. I may end up doing 1 replaceable blade with 2 extra blades (because it’s so light) and 1 fixed blade in the kill kit and another on my pack strap. Not the lightest option, but diamond plates take weight too.

Yeah. I’m sure I could get through several animals before totally dulling my knife, but I’d rather keep a sharp knife sharp than have to get a dull knife sharp. Plus, you can justify a little break while quartering. Lol

I haven’t gotten the chance to test it out yet, but almost the entire reason I got MagnaCut was because edge retention is supposedly better. Everybody everywhere online says edge retention is great, compared to other great steels like 52100. Why do you say this? Not being a smart-Alec, I’m...

I understand. I just bought a MagnaCut blade so hoping it won’t need much resharpening in the field, but I’ll always have my 1.5 oz Tyto replaceable blade on me as backup. Congrats on the moose! I’m hoping to make that trip within the next decade.
Eventually might snag the Worksharp field sharpener but I thought it might work to just take like 800 grit sandpaper instead to save some weight. Is this a dumb idea? Was also considering just bringing one of my diamond plates.

Does anybody else sometimes search something on Google, have a Rokslide topic pull up, and click on it to be redirected to a fake scam website? It’s happened to me a couple times when searching gear reviews and I exited really quick, just wanted to make it known (not that anything can be done...
