I just tested H4350 at that pressure, I didn't intend to run it there. I'm sure my 43gr of N555 is well north of 60k psi as well. Everything is fine till it isn't. I wish they'd show the barrel specs they use on their pressure testing. 218 bore, or 219? I know it makes a big difference, as does...
Runnig their SRP, case heads and pockets are stronger. Still utilizes large flash hole. Cci450 will reliably ignite even slower powders in subzero temps in my use experience. Lot easier to get SRP VS LRP currently.
Only problem with alpha brass, it's hard as F. Takes 2 firings for the base to...
I tried H1000 in my 22in with 77tmk. I couldn't get enough in there to get it to outperform H4350. Rl16 along with full cases of N555 rl23 didn't he best, 3300+ fps. H1000 was 100-150fps behind these. Lapua brass, less capacity than HDY. H4350 moved 77s at 3275 at pressure, H1000 was around 3200...
In an 18" barrel the 6cm still gets surprisingly good velocity. I just tested 105hyb and 112mb in my 18in yesterday. Was able to get up to 3000fps with both, H4350 w/ 105s and rl26 with 112s. No bolt lift or ejector marks either. Case web diameters on lapua brass tell me its pretty dang warm, as...
They work well in open country too. Animals don't run off after shot nearly as far, I've observed antelope run closer to me after suppressed rifles went off.
I'd think a 75° action should be designed as that from the ground up. Not an afterthought turned add-on. Gotta be some corner cutting going on. I could be totally wrong.
The problem with 8.6blk is the case is too bih to get solid ea/sd with pistol powders and subs. The 338arc was designed to remedy this. Hornady and Alpha did a lot of testing, the 338 arc is gonna be legit shooting sub, if you want a combination of supers and subs, 8.6blk or 375 razorback would...
For sure. I've killed several deer/antelope with the 75eldm at 3250 and they all died very quickly. I have no doubt the 88s will do the trick on a larger deer species.
18" Ace 219 bore 7.5tw 4gr lt Palma on an igniter, Hnt26 chassis, DD Wolfhunter
43.0gr N555 with 88s 45k off lands, cci450 alpha srp brass, runs 3100fps. Shoots routinely 5-10 shot groups under 2" at 300y. Some cherry picked 5 shot groups have been 1/3 to 1/4 moa at 300 and 400y. But that's...
Not abnormal for high level, even our local league prs guys to burn out 2-5 barrels a year. How many hunters do you know burning out a barrel every year? Sadly most the hunters I know shoot a box of ammo weekend before season and are ready to kill everything out to 500y🤣 my range has been packed...
Scrunch for sure I'm 5 10 ND I gotta hunch seated. Pack be good rear support, or a light tripod leg pinched against the buttstock prs style it's really steady. Be cool if someone came out with an arca head for it.
I have one of those as well. It's bout the only 6cm you can keep light enough to work with. Put a 14" A419 universal arca rail on it utilizing front sling stud and front action screw.
I haven't shot it since this spring, you've reminded me I have too many rifles!
I do not, I'm actually running near 3gr less powder with the 65cm than the 25cm. I mean recoil in 25# rifles is minimal anyway, but the 25cm feels a bit more snappy, and the 65cm more of a slow push. There are some really good muzzle brakes that control muzzle rise, and keep the rifle tracking...
AG shmedium gamechanger filled about 70% with spexlite 5125, weighs 1.5#. Use as front bag on stump or limbs, atop Tripod Apex, rear bag. I'm just used to using one for everything in prs matches so it easy for me.
X47 needs to be ran at relatively high pressure to run the heavy 25 Cals at 2850+ for power factor. With 144-156gr 6.5 cal, you can run 200fps slower and still make limits. If you want to run a 25, you need a creed. It's still running higher psi to get the 2870-2900fps.
I've ran 25cm in prs at...
