Show your Tikka ten round groups

I’m concerned about the zero shift. This is with the Maven, properly mounted. No clue why the .3mil zero shift off a previously validated zero. But that cheap Hornady Black 75 BTHP shoots pretty darn good. I didn’t bother to measure it, but it’s sub-MOA for that 12 shot group.

    Rokslide Special 223 recipe

More of that cheap Hornady Black 75 BTHP. Sub MOA for a 12 shot group. Interestingly, the ES and SD were tighter than for the Precision Hunter I was also shooting in my 6.5 and 7mm. Lately I’ve been getting one high and one low MV shot per box in the Precision Hunter. ES in the 70-80 range.

    Suppressor wrap

mine is holding up just fine. I re-wrapped it and did a little more trimming to make it more aesthetically pleasing, but didn’t change the design of it at all. The one with the silicone wrap underneath the carbon felt and vet tape is a little bulkier, but does a better job at managing Mirage...

Stuff overheard at the range or local gun shop

100% true: I’m at the range zeroing my 7mm in a Rokstok. These two dudes plop down and take the benches next to me. I quickly glance over and make a snap judgement: 5.11pants, SIG shirts, Sig hat, matching range bags, head to toe tacticool, Garmin chrono, all the gear. I’m not paying attention...

    Too many elk in Montana?

What a joke. My son will be hunting a general tag this year. I will be sure to knock on their door and ask permission to help with their “problem”. Anyone want to guess what the answer will be?!?

I didn’t even think about a bino harness.

    Rain gear sizing

How loose do you guys get your rain gear? I’ve got two sets of Kutana rain gear. A large top/medium bottom and an XL top/L bottom. The smaller sets fits perfectly for a couple of midweight layers- think a base layer and Sitka timberlines on the bottom and maybe a t shirt, base layer, and grid...

I’m 100% out for the 17th. 50/50 for the 24th, but probably not unless I am 100% squared away for my “hunts or something”!

Last year was our bad summer. This summer has been hotter, but we have been getting some rain here and there. We got dumped on earlier this week.

    Tick prevention on dog

I I bought some .25% permethrin dog shampoo. I’m going to try that, and if it doesn’t work I’m going to double up on the Simparica and Seresto.

Are you a vet? Sounds like you might be, which would save me a call to my vet.

    Tick prevention on dog

I have used the collar with a previous dog, and although ticks weren’t as bad in TX, we never found on on him or in the house. The Google says I can combine the seresto collar and simpatica.

    Tick prevention on dog

@ScreamingPotato Spraying my yard with permethrin is not really a viable option. I have several acres of grass and woods, I do spray with three month insect treatment in the areas around the house and my archery range, but with all the woods around, I can’t possibly cover everything. This...

    Tick prevention on dog

Our 9 month old Lab keeps bringing ticks into our house. He is on Simparico Trio, but these seem to be ticks that jump on his fur and then jump off inside the house without attaching. We are finding a tick a day since he came home from training at the breeder for the last 3 months. I’m...
