I did follow the blood to private and unfortunately it dried up pretty fast. As Laramie stated in analyzing the shot and knowing how tough elk are I'm not ruling out hat he will die. But yes after that rodeo I tracked him to the edge of private.
It was a shot I totally felt comfortable with. He was slightly downhill, quartering away at 40 yards. Shot placement was good. BUT he flinched and dug in when the bow went off and move that front quarter back just enough to have that arrow just knick it and slow it down enough to only get one...
No they did not. Watched them drive away that evening with nothing in the back. The one guy said he thought he saw the arrow open up during flight, that's all I know.
I would agree in the sense that you're right they don't owe me anything. BUT we as hunters owe the animals everything. Without them there is no hunt. Ethically I think wether it is my animal or not I am going to try and get that animal down in anyway I can. If that means backing out of a...
Hey guys so I had something pretty unreal happen to me last weekend while bow hunting elk. I shot a herd bull in the morning around 8am. Arrow went in only about 8 inches and looked like it may have clipped the back end of his shoulder blade when he flinched when the bow went off. Unlucky and I...
Well I came from a 65mm to the 80mm and the 80 definitely gathers more light no doubt about it... But it comes with that weight penalty, always trade offs!
Unfortunately my buddy fell through on the bear hunt so I wasn't able to compare them side by side, but after having it for a few months I'll share my thoughts. This scope is pretty damn good and is probably one I will have for quite some time because ultimately I won't be able to make the jump...
If you come out early then you will be fighting with other deer hunters. If you wait till the 15th, elk season opens up so generally that is where a lot of residents focus shifts. But ultimately it depends on what you're looking for in a hunt.

I would agree, I do see and have killed multiple down low in some of those areas during rifle season. Depending on when he is planning to go in September I would say the only issue with lower is that it gets pretty dang hot (depending on the year) that can make a lot of those deer pretty...
I would avoid 76 this year as that burned most of the southern end and it burned hot, probably won't be good for a while. Went out there this spring and there was hardly any new growth popping through. Bad hydrophobic soils in most spots. If you're going in September go 10k plus, those deer...
I have worked on some the the wind farms out there and there are some smacker bucks in the checker board of private in unit 70. But it's pretty hard to get access to them. The north part of 70 I have seen some good deer. I would strongly recommend scouting as that season is only 6 days long and...
Mine just came in yesterday. Had a chance to just run out and give it a quick test run and so far I am impressed. Had some major heat waves and it was able to cut down on those pretty well. I will take it shed hunting this weekend and will really put it to the test. Edge to edge was good...
