The Keele is substantially warmer, and itchy AF next to skin. Of the two, definitely go Tuscarora for what you've described; the Keele is more appropriate as a mid layer.
The hip belt fit is going to be way more important than the shoulder straps. If you can post pics of you wearing the pack, one from straight on and one from the side, that would help identify any issues. If you'd rather not post mirror selfies on the forum, send them in to SG to take a look and...
Killed my first bear today, 73 ELD-M at 50 yards. Went maybe 35 and piled up. It’s hotter than balls so I didn’t bother slowing down for pictures. Bear was 225-250 pounds. Bullet actually exited, wound the size of a quarter. Front half of the chest cavity was mushy, as expected.
How close is immediately adjacent? Do you have terrain or vegetation to conceal your approach and climb? Generally, my vote is to get as close to bedding as possible but you need to be able to do it without blowing them out, or getting picked off by non-target deer when they get up to move (this...
Not the 75s, but somewhere around 20 deer (whitetails) with 73 ELDMs. They shoot and kill well (meaning great wound channels, little time to incapacitation) in my 1:8 twist. Rarely see an exit, but haven’t had to blood trail one either - they generally die within sight.
My thoughts are...I didn't watch the video. If you want DBs like this and their videos to go away, which I do, I'd highly recommend not posting them, sharing, viewing them, etc. etc. etc. I don't know preciely how YT channels and sponsorships work, but I bet their bottom line isn't affected by...
I have not tried it, but there's a lot to like there. It's impressive that a pad that thickness can also have the packed size they're showing. As much as I think it looks like a potentially really comfortable pad at a not terrible weight, I think I'd have a hard time finding a niche for it (for...
If your stuff fits in the 3600 without you having to tetris it in, that's what I'd use. I've done some 3-day winter trips (backpacking/camping not hunting) out of the 3600 and had room for a couple more days of food. I have a hard time imagining the need for 7200 ci for that short a trip, but...
The Rick Young deal is just shock cord, but it’s large enough diameter that it stays in place pretty well while still having stretch. On the FHF pouch, I had to route through those upper two loops so it doesn’t sag away from my chest.
Don't your lenses fog? I split the difference and use the Rick Young Bungee on an FHF pouch. 8.8 ounces, which includes a rangefinder pouch on one side.
