The face fabric on the A3 is pretty thin - probably to help it breathe. I’d put a shell over it if I needed to bust brush. I’m sure the L5 would be better in that regard, but the L5 looks like a more traditional softshell with a durable exterior fabric.
Yeah, I suspect you’re right about breathability and wind blocking. That was a major complaint @mtwarden has had about active insulation layers up to this point - sandwiched between layers that don’t breath. That said, I’d suggest that even this is way better than the thick fleece midlayers of...
I’ve got Beyond’s A3 Alpha Sweater, and it’s fantastic. I don’t think this L5 existed at the time I ordered the A3, but I wouldn’t hesitate to buy the L5, particularly if I could get it on sale.
I paid $150 for the A3 on sale in March 2022. I’m 5’11” 190# 34” waist, not lean. I ordered large...
“Shot him from 820 yards away. He had no idea I was there!”
Yeah, maybe get a little closer so that you can put the first round through his lungs next time, a**hole.
Agreed. This really grinds my gears when I’m reading product reviews. One review says “perfect fit!” The next says “shoulders were too tight, returned.” And neither one tells you which size they ordered or what size their bodies are. It makes me want to flip my desk.
@bcar have you done any stand hunting / sitting in cold weather with this Evertherm yet? How well did it work? What layers were you using?
Trying to decide if this is a great piece, or all bark and no bite. Folks say you'll overheat if you're on the move, and this isn't breathable at all, so...
It’s a really great cartridge. Despite the terminal performance, it shoots soft on the shoulder. That’s one consideration that seems to be lacking from the magnum folks. I had a similar experience with a mule deer Buck this year. Quartered toward at 50 yds, blew out the front shoulder and both...
Wow, those are some good deals. If I didn’t already have items that cover all of these bases, I’d be placing a decent order. Almost tempted to buy a soft shell jacket just as a daily wearer.
Just don’t forget where you stash the bag. I bought a pack of like 50 of those for a few dollars a few years ago. Replaced all the pulls on an old backpack, then stored them in our supply closet. Pulled them out to use once or twice more, then decided to move them to my wife’s sewing kit. Now...
Zoom out. Investing is a long term process. You should absolutely expect volatility in the short term. This is totally normal. Don’t try to time the market. The worst thing you can do is sell and go to cash after your portfolio has taken a big hit.
If you’re looking for advisors, I strongly...
I’ve got Beartooth 0g. The toe box feels tighter than I would have wanted, but that actually hasn’t caused any problems, so maybe there’s a technical reason to have a “fitted” toe box that I’m unaware of.
Anyways, I got 11.5 and wear 11 in tennis shoes. Consider sizing up a half size. Great...
Came here to say this. Most folks looking into newer calibers like this won't be comparing a 6.8 Western to 7 PRC. The 6.8 is a really great short action cartridge. 7 PRC looks pretty great, too, but it's not a substitute for 6.8 in most instances.
One thing that is often overlooked here is blood flow. To stay warm, your feet need good blood flow. You need to size up your boots from normal shoe size to allow extra space not only for thick socks (and maybe toe warmers, if you want), but also to avoid constriction.
I wear size 11 tennis...
Looks like apple is rolling out an SOS via satellite feature. They’re not offering messaging capabilities, but I have to imagine that’s where this is headed. Looks like it will only be available on new models, so we’re a few years away from this being a great option for most folks. Still, could...
