    Need New Gaiters

My Yukons are also going strong (two small patches where I snagged them pretty bad) after six -seven years. A good three layer gaiter is going to be warmish, no way around it. For warmer (and drier) conditions I like their (sadly discontinued) Scree gaiters; I'll have to find a replacement at...

    Muscular Endurance for Mountain Athletes

I think so; we didn't go back down the way we came up as that might have been a wee bit painful :), but we still lost a lot of elevation w/ weight on out backs.

    Muscular Endurance for Mountain Athletes

Got another one in Sunday— longer at 1.3 miles w/ 1950' gain, roughly the same steepness (we did an additional 6-ish miles w/ very little gain, almost all down hill). I think I was calculating slope degree wrong. I was using distance traveled with ascent putting it into a calculator that shows...

Are lightweight baselayer bottoms a waste?

Merino is definitely not that the top of the heap of durable fabrics AND then add very light Merino and they aren't going to be overly durable. What helps on the durability front is you can find a merino-nylon blend; for I've found ~ 65% Merino to 35% Nylon to be a pretty sweet spot- the Nylon...

How Many Still Prefer To Hunt Alone?

I enjoy hunting with buddies (only hunt with a select few) but the reality is 90% of my hunting is solo. My more memorable hunts seem to be the ones when I’m not hunting solo.

Are lightweight baselayer bottoms a waste?

If anyone is looking for a very lightweight Merino bottom, Montbell has a good option. Light enough you have to be a little careful with them, but at 4 oz, not much more than a pair of boxers https://www.montbell.us/products/disp.php?cat_id=25053&p_id=2307110&gen_cd=1

Has anyone experienced burn out due to shift work and night shift?

While I didn’t love working 16-20 hour during the peak of hunting season; “shifting” shift work took a much deeper toll. Body isn’t very well designed to a changing sleep pattern

    Football fans???

Tua had the first down easily; crazy he didn’t slide :( The Bills called a really good defensive game I thought (despite the numerous injuries); they just weren’t going to give up any long plays. The injuries to Miami’s O line during the game helped too.

Has anyone experienced burn out due to shift work and night shift?

In the early 80's when I was in the Air Force we worked 6 days on with three off. At first blush sounded pretty good. The kicker was the first three days we worked a swing shift (2:00 PM-10:00 PM), the next three days we worked three mids (10:00 PM to 6:00 AM) and then three days off. Well...
