I got some 188 grain Discreet Ballistic all copper 300 Blackout projectiles and loaded up some handloads. I will say the Hornady Sub X are silly accurate as well.
Man loving the 6 ARC success. Typical 3 shot 100 yard group from my Howa Mini. I was hammering 100,200,300,600 today just shooting off the MOA reticle in my Zeiss scope. No dialing.
This one is still up for debate less than two weeks before season. It's a tough decision for me, but I am leaning towards my 6.5 Creedmoor cause its a Tikka UPR and the trigger and stock are better in many ways that my Howa Mini.
Haven’t hunted with them yet but I got a great load with the Hornady 110 VMax. At 300 Blackout speeds, the 110 VMax is more like a typical cup and core big game bullet.
I haven’t loaded up any Barnes, but my local Academy Sports carries boxes of 110 VMax. I think Hornady is a better value for...
This is one I should have Googled before posting. Everyone says they grenade and wouldn’t be good unless one can get perfect shot placement.
Too risky in my book. I’ll stick with the 143 ELDX or the 140/147 Match.
I've been kicking around the idea of getting a box of 100 grain ELD-VT and loading them up over some Varget for my 6.5 Creedmoor.
Would it be too explosive on whitetail if pushed hard? My shots can vary from 20-400 yards. The speed would be nice for a point and shoot solution for typical ranges.
I'm OCD with reloading and weigh each ball powder charge and trickle or remove a .10-.20 of a grain if needed.
I need to load up some rounds just dropping charges after the meter is set and see how it translates to accuracy. Sure would make reloading fast!
The Howa Mini has a very small bolt knob that requires an awkward grip to cycle the action. The oversized bolt knob makes it easier to grip and cycling the bolt smoother and faster.
I agree. I also think running Varget in 6 ARC produces more than adequate performance to take game. Sure other powders get higher velocities, but is the negative to positive ratio worth it in a hunting environment?
28.4 grains was very accurate but hit pressure and was hard on brass. 27.5 wasn’t bad, 27.8 and 28.1 weren’t very accurate. 27.2 was the happy place for my barrel.
I got the $10 screw on bolt knob from Legacy Sports that imports the Howa Mini. Cheap but very functional upgrade. It makes cycling the bolt so much easier.
