I know you can track each others units with the Garmin Alpha's, they are for hound hunting so I am not sure if there is a model for the everyday guy that has the same features but you would have to think. You can see each others hand held unit on your gps map.

I agree with the lock boxes don't always stop theft, as I have had two stolen that had lock boxes bolted to trees as well. There is really no real way to stop theft. But the box with lock on it should stop 95% of people and 100% of bears. I personally am usually more worried about bears eating...
That right there is the main reason I put every camera of mine in a metal bear box. I mean its also to stop people from stealing but the biggest threat really is the bears! For the $30 or less they cost its well worth it.
I typically have no issues getting to sleep in the backcountry, usually the fresh air knocks you out. But in times where I am wide awake and need to sleep a little of the BC sleep aid goes a long ways. I think it could be similar to that CO sleep aid ..... lol. I would rather do that every day...

In a couple of areas I hunt elk in I have been lucky enough to stumble upon little springs popping out the of the ground running for 6 ft then going back in. I found the elk lived on top of those damn springs almost. Looking at maps/google earth would not have led me to think this was there...
