I missed this whole thread until now, but I’ve hunted the High Buck the last 3 years in Washington with good success. This year during August scouting, I turned up the biggest buck I’ve ever seen in Washington, 30-32” wide. The basin he was in, had 10-12 bucks every morning, with a few other...
Finding and Reading this thread has been crazy for me. I bought the ARK frame after busting my pack from the 2023-2024 season, and was pretty taken back, by how poorly I thought it fit. I had the exact same experience of “jabbing” with the lumbar pad, especially in the top 2” of it. The lower...
It’s funny to hear someone say that. After spending a small fortune on the ARK frame and Fulcrum pack, with all the goodies, I found the exact same thing as you. Literally to a T. After packing an Osprey Xenith for all of the 2023-2024 season, and eventually busting the frame through the fabric...
You were able to fit a bone in moose quarter in a reckoning? I’m looking at the fulcrum, because I’m scared the reckoning won’t be big enough for 7 day elk hunts.
That worries me! As I said above, I’m throwing a NX8 2.5-20x on a Rem700 LA. It’s weird guys like Bjorn have as much clearance as they do, and then guys like you have given up because of the eye relief.
I’m trying to mount a 2.5-20x on a long action, and I think between cutting the pic rail, and higher rings, I can get proper eye relief without issue. I’m hoping at least.
That’s a 2.5-20x on a long action?
It looks like you have a whole inch of clearance, while most guys have it backed up right against the picatinny rail, and still complain about proper eye relief.
I’m curious about that, since I’m trying to put a 2.5-20x on a rem700 long action.
What barrel length and velocity was the Federal giving you with the 175’s? I followed quite a few threads of customers disappointed in performance, specifically in 7PRC factory loadings. Like 100-150FPS under the claimed velocity on the box.
I’m hoping my handloads, and a 26” barrel can get me...
For my custom, I’ll actually be hand loading. My plan is Peterson Brass, GM215M primers, H1000/N570/Retumbo, and the 175 ELDX like I already said. I’m glad I don’t have to find factory loads, because western Washington really only has Hornady offerings.
I’d be interested to see what projectile you decide on. I’m currently in the process of a 7PRC build, and one of my biggest dilemmas is picking between the 180 ELDM, 175 ELDX, and the 160CX. I’m pretty sure I’ll end up picking the 175 ELD-X, depending on how it groups. I’ve used match bullets in...
