    Merino Wool

I'd second both Minus 33 and Meriwool, though I still don't know if you'd call them cheap. Cheaper, but I think you're still going to want to search for sales/coupons. My Meriwool baselayer longsleeve shirt has held up well for two seasons. I replaced it with some stuff I liked better, but...

If you could only have two pants...

I already have to layer up under my heavy duty bibs 🤣

Fishnet base layers. They work, and you want them.

Thanks for the tip. I liked them so much I put in an order for a second pair so this will come in handy.

    Favorite mid layer hoodie

For me it's been right on the mark for the most part. My experience has been that different pieces are slightly different in sizing. I'm 6'1 230ish. I typically wear an XL in most clothes. Their Barnburner and Head Guide (Now Contact) hoodies fit perfect. The XL drydown vest fits perfect. The...

    Your thoughts on hunting solids

I typically wear solids/plaids. I have various combinations of browns, greys, and subdued greens. As long as you mix and match it'll break up your silhouette anyway. Especially in late season I wear a lot of grey and I haven't had an issue with it, but I will say that I wear wool and that...

If you could only have two pants...

Western hunting truly is worlds apart from Midwest tree stand hunting. I think I'd freeze to death in a lot of the late season recommendations that have been given lol, but then again I don't handle cold as well as most when stationary.

Duck Camp Barnburner Hoodie for me.

    Warm mid layer

Have to be the contrarian I guess. Give me a good wool midlayer like a Woolpower 600 or Appalachian Gear Company All-Paca crew. Just as warm and light but regulates my temperature and moisture better IMO and will smell better on top of it.

Fishnet base layers. They work, and you want them.

Got them today and so far I am very happy with them. Bought some woolpower too to wear over them and it's been a warm and comfortable combo so far.

To Hoody or Not to Hoody

In most of my situations its 1 hood + 1 or 2 hats + 1 neck gaiter or shemagh....whether its hot early season, or freezing cold late season.

To Hoody or Not to Hoody

I have the Dachstein 4-ply hat. It's not cheap, like $80...but I like it and it keeps my head warm. I like a bill so I usually wear my Stormy Kromer, then wear the Dachstein over it. Kept me comfortable around 0° F.

I figured it out...there was a typo in my email address.

Can you use Sitka marsh for turkey?

As others have said, sit still and you'll be fine. If you're really worried about it make sure you place yourself in spots that what you're wearing won't stand out and use shadows to your benefit. I just took a look at the Sitka Marsh camo and it looks to me like it should work in just about...

    Soft Shells

I don't personally know of any that meet all of your requirements.

To Hoody or Not to Hoody

I tend to try for one hood at any given time, two max. I'd rather have zero hoods than 3+ Obviously, this means I try to get my layering pieces without a hood when possible. I usually try to get my baselayer in a crew neck, then my innermost midlayer(s) with a crew or raised collar, and then...

Fishnet base layers. They work, and you want them.

For those of you who ordered through Varuste...did you get an email or anything confirming your order? I got a confirmation page with a confirmation number, but I haven't received an email with a confirmation or any way to track my order. Also, overall how long did it take from order to...

Different degrees of itchiness for different people doesn't surprise me, everyone's body reacts to wool differently. There are mon-wool versions for people who react more strongly. You'll have to wash them more but probably worth the tradeoff.

I thought they were pretty popular in Scandinavia...you still get laughed at in Finland?
