I was in their shop in Bozeman a few months ago and was told the Helio bottoms were going to be offered in a zip-off model, not just zip vents. I hope to be be seeing those in the coming months.
I wanted to see what everyone‘s thoughts were on rotating boots during a hunt. I run a fair amount and usually rotate between 3 different running shoes. Each with their own different characteristics. It tends to keep my feet and legs fresh if I do this. I just got through with a 2 week archery...
I also have one of their new boonie hats. I’ve used it for golfing and yard work and it has performed great. I’m taking it next week to Montana for my archery elk hunt and expect it to perform well. Keeps the sun off and my head cool (relatively) and that is all you can ask for in a warm weather...
A second for the Renegade pants. Super durable, not quite as breathable as the sitka acents but plenty of room in the legs. I have above average legs and occasionally wear an ankle holster and the Renegades have plenty of room.
I have a pair of kestrels and I really enjoy putting them on. I’m rolling through Bozeman this fall and look forward to stopping by and lettting them talk me into buying another pair of schnees.
I spend a bunch of time behind the glass. I’ve used a number of chairs. The BTR did not last 10 hunting days. I’m not a fan of REI but their lightweight chairs have held up the best. I can usually get 3-4 years out of their chairs. The Helinux would be a close second.
I picked up some kestrels a few months ago and I love them. The toe box is pretty generous. I also have a pair of salewa rapace, They have a small toe box. I would compare the kestrels to the crispi valres in fit although I think the kestrels are a better overall boot.
I live in se Arizona so the weather is a little different. I can be snowing sideways or it could be 60 degrees. But in the desert it is always about the water. If you can find an area with 2-3 water sources within a 1/2 mile circle, find the highest hill, sit down, and glass, glass, glass. You...
I live in the 35(a),(b) area. The small mule deer bucks are running with the does but the big boys are close. Find a hilltop near a big desert valley and glass, glass, glass.
I love my cc. I do mostly day hunts but the pack will carry more then I can carry. Just got the extenders and loads definitely ride better. I usually archery hunt but I would think you could strap your rifle virtually anywhere on the pack.
Probably not the answer you are looking for, but I put my knee pads inside my long underwear (icebreaker). They are tight enough so the pads don't move around while walking. Only issues I've had is the knees to my long underwear start to get holes after about 2 seasons (just another reason to...
Shot this guy with my bow down in southern Arizona. I think he would of been a 4 point if he hadn't been so willing to fight, and likely lose, to bigger Muleys.
I live in southeastern AZ. Mule deer are starting to rut and the coues are starting to think about it. Archery deer hunting in the desert is great! I would suggest buying an archery javalina tag as well. There are a number do leftover tags and if you have never had the chance to chase pigs...
I have 12x50 swarovski ELs. My buddy has 15x56 swarovski. My ELs are much clearer then his 15s and I can pick out details from long distances as well as or better then he can. I can't speak for the vortex binocs but I think the 12s are light enough to carry around but have enough magnification...
Only my second posting but I thought I would pass on a gear review. I recently purchased an REI Flexlite chair for glassing. I've used the chair now for about 15 days worth of hunting (6-8 hours a day looking for coues deer). It has held up very well and is surprisingly comfortable and is much...
I hunt in southeastern Arizona for coues deer and Muleys. I own a pair of 12x50 swarovski ELs and a Razor HD spotter. The majority of the time I glass with my 12s on a tripod. Archery hunting in December and January I have no problem finding the big bucks with my 12s. Frankly, I use the spotter...
