Need help on picking a tent. Apples or Oranges? Tarptent vs Seek Outside

No here on the stove but I am old and sleep as much as I can. I do not want to wake up and tend a stove. No to cots also - they make you cold. Use the extra weight on top notch equipment laying on well insulated pad laying on closed cell foam pad laying on the ground.

    Mystery ranch spare parts/Customer Service

I salute you guys who were able to wear out a mystery ranch hip belt. I would like to get a new pack but my pintler will not die. It is worse than my lawn boy was, I was finally able to kill the lawn boy by running it for a season without mixing oil in the gas.

    Bigger or lighter tent

I carry tarp, pad and quilt most of the time. I have a couple of BP tents that I will use for certain conditions - SMD deschutes and tt stratospire. Don't go with tarp without practice. Once you get a system of tarp, guys and stakes and practice a few different sets you will be good but it...

Like some Backcountry Sleeping Pad Suggestions Please!!

I use floorless shelters most of the time and will carry polycryo sheet of a thinlight foam pad to put under my sleeping pad. I use the retangular tensor and new retangular xtherm. Not to many nights on the new pad. I also do not fully inflate pad.

3 person tent or tents for desert deer hunt

Over your budget but 2Xstratospire2 would be comfortable and would make a quality tent for recreation and other hunts. I think he has them on sale for 300 now

3 person tent or tents for desert deer hunt

years ago I tried a "so called" 4 person backpacking tent. Seems it came in a little over eight lbs and very manageable for 3. I did not care for it and gave it away the next year. Tent was decent but I was not crazy about being that close.

    Hammock camping colorado archery?

I have many nights using hammock, tent and tarp. Each have a place. Hammock pros Dialed in hammock is extremely comfortable for most of us You do not need level or clear ground. Hammock cons Full hammock setup is a little heavier than tent and tarp options useless in treeless or P&J environments

Is the SO DST Tarp outdated?

I have went to silpoly as a trial about 3 years ago and am still using it. I was told silpoly was not as durable on this board, I cannot say as I have less than 75 nights. Silpoly does not sag and is not crazy expensive.

Why shouldn’t I get the Trijicon TenMile?

I like the SHV MIL-R or even the MOAR for hunting. I am not a fan of tree style reticles for hunting. That is strictly personal though,

Therm-a-rest, Nemo, Sea to Summit- Another comparison..

I am currently using the Tensor. I like it mainly because of availability in retangular shape.

Anyone solo backcountry hunting over the age of 60?

66 and still only hunt solo. I have carried and inreach since well before garmin bought them. It lets my wife know where I bed down at night. Not much drama in my hunts, I just keep putting one foot in front of another, I did have to limp off the mountain once with a boggered knee aboput 5 years...

    Warbonnet Tsunami

No experience with this product either. I am a longtime user of some of his other products and found them to be the very best at what they do. I went to the link and I do not see this product as one that fits for me. I might add one of their ground tarps though.

    Minimalist shoe/boot - transition process

Agreed with one exception. I realize that most Western hunters do not climb. For those that do, I have been unable to use an aider with minimalist footwear.

    Truck Camping recommendations

I went with the same option as the 2 posters above me. I usually do not worry about truck camping and rely on light backpacking setup even close to the truck. I purchased the KC 10X14. I do not want to mess with a wood stove on hunting trips. I do have a Mr. heater buddy with tank adapter if...

    Shooting School Recommendation?

If I figure things out I should write a book "Field Shooting Positions for Geezers". Biggest fear now is absolute flat ground with enough stubble to rule out prone. Nothing bends like it used to. I envy you guys who live close to the NF and have any hillside as your range.

Upgrading Bino's - One Pair vs Two

I sold 8x and 12x and bought 10x RF (fury). I will probably add a 15x if the right black friday deal pops up.

    Stretchy and spacious mummy bag

Interesting Thread SDLHTR Those recommending the ZenBivy, what makes the difference in comfort, clips? sheet and hood? I currently run a 15 Underground quilt on a wide Nemo Tensor. I always set my pad on thinlight foam pad or sometimes a Switchback (even though it is a few inches narrower)...

setting up Sako S20 hunting rig in 6.5 CM

Sorry, I didn't ask my question..Does anyone have negative or positive experience with Burris XTR Signature rings. I found 1 other thread from 2016 with a couple of replies.

setting up Sako S20 hunting rig in 6.5 CM

Leaning towards NF SHV F1 and Burris XTR Signature rings because I already have them. The NF is a known since I already using them on 2 Tikkas and a CZ. The Sako has integrated pic rail so that eliminates my usual rings. The Burris are a little heavier than most but this is not meant to be a...
