Over the last couple years we have been doing alot more moving throughout the hunt to either find game or stay on game. We have two wall tents now. I am thinking of getting something that is lighter and quicker to setup and take down until we get in an area where we will be long enough to setup...
I tried the LEM Maple Bacon cure this year. I usually buy a few rupture pigs to mix in with my venison brats and hotdogs. This year there was enough to do some bacon. I like it meaty not fatty and this was perfect. We wound up sealing up 25 half pound bags.
I added a 1/2 cup of homemade maple...
My by far favorite is to pickle it in thin strips. I use mcormicks pickling spice and same recipe most people used for fish. There is something about the texture the stays fairly firm with the heart and I could sit there and eat the whole pale.
I use the heck out of my carnivore and have never had an issue. My friend has the #12 LEM and likes his just as much. He has all of the bells and whistles for his which maybe someone on here knows. Being that the cabelas .75 carnivore is a #12 will the attachments for LEM work on mine?
When my grandpa was younger he lived life to the fullest! He did a grand slam, shot a polar bear, has several goats, mountain lions and a full room of memories and mounts. Him and I were talking a couple weeks ago about his hunts and he said he couldn't remember but those were relativity...
If the weather permits we put a wind blocker up and throw cots under the stars. If rain is expected we put up a tarp. Also helps to listen for bugles throughout the night as opposed to setting up our wall tents. We have been starting to look at a tipi tent to save space and setup time as well as...
I have bought wildgame and had great luck. I recently bought a couple cheap tasco's for under 40 and they are 8MP and seem to take nice clear night and daytime pics. They only have a 5 sec delay as well.
With the price and points going up each year on elk I am starting to look into options of some other hunts to put on a buck list. Moose and Caribou are at the top of the list for me. The factors that I am finding is in the last few years the more reputable places are becoming fairly expensive...
Just finally started to ditch the training wheels this year. Shooting a 55@28 Great Plains Rio Bravo and a 55@28 big river longbow. Carbon exptress 250's with 175 grain simmon shark working with a 540gr total weight.
I froze them and then used a meat saw to go down the spine. I have never done this cut in the past but we have froze deer in the past and cut T-bones out.
made these up for the first time this weekend. I shot a yearling doe and couldn't resist trying it. I used a prime rib rub I got from old southern smokehouse in hayward, WI and smoked them at 180 degree until they hit 140 degrees. I then made a butter garlic gravy I dipped them in and they...
