Flies for Springtime Montana Lakes & Learning More About Insects

Try to find a copy of "Caddisflies by Gary LaFontaine" I have been fly fishing for over 40 years averaging 90 days a year for the last 20 years. Caddisflies helped a bunch. Much larger Rainbows and Cutts. Great Fishing

    Stove jack install advice

I used a Bearpaw stove jack, installed using tear-mender, and a few corner stitches "both from Amazon" on a 10' x 14' Kodiak bow-flex tent with an Alaska Kni-Co stove. Just finished my 40th night using this setup hunting in the interior of Alaska keeping me warm and dry without a problem.

How do you get dressed....in your tent?

Just got back 3 days ago from a 7 day Interior Grizzly hunt where my partner managed to forget the tent poles for our large, beautiful, warm Kodiak Tent. Ended up in a 2 man tent AKA a 1/2 man tent. At 76 a learning curve of dressing I do not want to repeat. God I love that Kodiak Tent.

    High Buck Hunt in WA.

I would think about having the Courtney's of Stehekin drop camp you in the high country. I have hunted that area for 50 years, now in Alaska. The odds of success are low. The country is fantastic. There are always a few large buck around, but hard to find.

What’s the coolest thing you found in the back country

Last fall moose hunting in the interior of Alaska I found a baby wooly mammoth jaw, several large hunks of ivory tusk bark and a scapula that we think is from a scimitar tiger. Great trip with moose hunting being excellent, can not wait for this fall.
