At this point my personal view is that they are a speculative gamble more than an investment. That may change over time, so it’s certainly worth learning more and monitoring them.
I’m not tall and the kifaru duplex with a Stryker makes a great load hauler that isn’t too big for day hikes. I sold an exo k2 that also fit well. Either should work for this use case.
I bought a Chev Colorado with the small diesel figuring the mileage and price difference would make it more economical (I drive 45 min each way to work). With diesel prices equal to gas and the increased maintenance costs vs a gas I think it’s about a push for me at this point.
I’ve been most successful walking roads that are too brushy to drive. Sometimes the deer are in the timber other times clearcuts. I think the key is to find lower pressure areas and for me that’s by walking old grades or brushed in roads. All of my black tail have been on “public” ground but...
Depends on if your foot is wide or narrow. Wide, look at New Balance. Narrow, Salomon. If you have a REI around often they have a variety of shoes to try on. Even if they don’t have the exact one you want you can get info on brands that suit your feet.
Not music, but podcasts. I use my driving time to listen to a variety of them. Engages my brain and makes use of the time.
For music, I’ll date myself and say 80s rock.

Not a big fan of the replaceable scalpel knives as they’re sharp enough to do real damage if you slip and subject to breakage if side loaded.
A quality fixed blade and folder combo seems to be a good combo.
