Also a big Nitecore fan, especially the little NU20. Weighs nothing and plenty bright on medium. I like that it's got a built in rechargeable battery as well.
MOLLE attachment points on the belt for the new frame is also a very welcome change. As mentioned, also much easier now to access the meat shelf than before.
I have the 8x42 and they are noticably better than my friends Diamondbacks. I've not looked through a pair of Monarchs to provide a comparison. The Vanguard's are well regarded in the birding community and can usually be had for a very good price (paid $80 after rebate for mine).
