Mine only took 6 months but I was only without the horns for about 2 months. -

How many inches to justify a shoulder mount for you?
I guess I would say 372-7/8 since that is the one shot last year and shoulder mounted. Of course it was also my first time archery hunting for elk also so I felt I needed to have it mounted. -

Multi-Season Elk tag Washington?
Only real concern for me is the price of the tag. I drew it last year and it allowed me to put in for any permits. I got lucky and drew a Clockum archery tag that I wouldn't have been able to put in for. -

Elk rifle preference
I have used a 270 Win with 140gr Barnes with no problem. I switched years ago to a 8mm Rem Mag with 180 Barnes and it has killed every elk I have hit with it. I would have no problems using either as I am very comfortable and accurate with both.
