Very durable, I also use some 20 year old ones as well. I've had no problem with freezing them or putting hot water in them. A hot one will sometimes go in my sleeping bag. I have used them as a pillow (but prefer actual pillows) and as a shower by hanging them in a tree.

It also helps if the moon phase is small (closer to a new moon vs full moon), and you look for details more on the transition line from dark to light. Easier to plan when at home vs vacation.
