Rifle scope in place of a spotting scope?

Many places have restrictions on what constitutes a legal animal. What if you're hunting elk and it has to be a four point to be legal and you can't tell if it is or not through your binos? Are you going to aim your rifle at an animal to determine if it's legal?

Opinions on a spotting scope for Mtn Goat?

BTW if you go with the Swaro ATS make sure you get the 25-50 wide angle eye piece, not the 20-60. You will really appreciate the extra FOV.

Opinions on a spotting scope for Mtn Goat?

I've got a Kowa 553 and a Swarovski ATX 65. IMO those are quite possibly the 2 best scopes for packing and still maintaining optical performance. As far as a tripod goes, I'd strongly advise against a ball head and get a pan head instead. Pan heads flat out outperform ball heads for prolonged...

Zeiss Conquest HD center post removal/ bino stud install

Way late to the party, but I did exactly as you described and it worked perfectly. I'm not going to lie, I was nervous as hell while doing it. Mine are a 2014 pair of 10x42's that back up my Swaro NL's, so I figured I still had glass if I messed up. Thanks for the instructions!

Ranging Binos or Binos plus a Rangefinder?

I think his point is that you are using a lighter bino for extended glassing than if you have a combined unit.

Ranging Binos or Binos plus a Rangefinder?

I much prefer 2 separate units. For rifle season, when I'm glassing extensively it's nice to have the absolute best glass possible. During archery season, you usually need to be able to range with 1 hand.

Latest Shipment News on Swarovski NLs

From what my local optics guru tells me, the binos you would have bought a year ago are better than what is currently available at the reduced price, apart from maybe some old inventory. Sounds like they made some changes to get the price down. Supposedly they reduced the quality of the coatings...

New vs old Binos, what am I missing?

I had a pair of those Discoverers in 7x42 i bought new in the mid 90's and I'm pretty certain they were right at $350. They were actually pretty good glass for the money. I replaced those with B&L Elites which were a noticeable upgrade and compared pretty well with the high end European glass of...

Binos: If Swaro prices = no go... what would be your choice if Budget = $1K?

You shouldn't even have to send them in if they're anything like most binos. They should just send you a new eye cup. Unthread the old one and thread in the new one. 15 seconds and you're done.

Binos: If Swaro prices = no go... what would be your choice if Budget = $1K?

Off topic a little, but it sounds like you just need a replacement eye cup. Contact Vortex and they'll most likely just send you one. If you really want some new glass, fix the ones you have so you can wait to look through the new Meopro Airs when they come available or just get the SLCs and be...

    New Guy From MT

Hi all. Long time lurker here and a participant on a number of the other forums. Figured it was time to finally register so I can actually contribute. Right now I'm just counting down the days for archery elk to open.
