I’m with you. Although I’m not a Barnes fan, the Hammer Monos are phenomenal, kill quickly, carry plenty of energy, and are super easy to work up loads with. I finished load development in my 22 CM yesterday with the Hammer 68 gr HHT, and it took a total of 13 rounds.
Jefferson Outdoor, and Oregon Gunsmithing both make a hinged floorplate with internal magbox, BDL style for the Howa Mini that works phenomenally well. Jefferson Outdoor also makes a conversion bottom metal for the Howa Mini, that allows you to use CZ 527 mags.
Side by Side, the 22 ARC looks to have a shorter neck, and maybe even more capacity than the 224 Grendel, being that they both have the same case length. Definitely not the smaller dimensions and lesser capacity of the 6 ARC.
The 22 ARC has the same length case as the 6.5 Grendel, and 224 Grendel, and not the shorter 6ARC, so it should be pretty much identical or very very similar in case capacity, and not shorted by the shorter length of the 6ARC. Look a few posts up, I posted the 22 ARC specs.
The 224 Grendel (essentially the same as the 22 ARC) will run a 53 gr V-Max at 3800+ in a gas gun with a 7 twist. That’s very much within 22-250 performance.
The 22 ARC, appears to be nothing more than a SAAMI version of the 224 Grendel. Handloaded, the 224 Grendel will outpace the Valkyrie by approximately 10% across the board, so around 300 fps with a 75 gr ELD-M. That’s also in an AR platform, in a bolt gun, you could get a little more out of it.
