I use the victorinox to do a lot of the indoor processing, but the game changer for me was using the Halvalon knives. It is nice to simply replace a blade rather than fuss with sharpening it, and it's always razor edges.
We have a CWD trash bin not far on Game Commission land- anyway it's for carcass disposal of deer. You should contact the WMA office and see if one is near you.
In the past I've buried them in the garden plot- that works!
I've also returned them to the woods- but I don't like feeding coyotes...
I agree... the fanatic lite is not great in the wind! The material seems like it should be wind proof, but it gets chilly if the wind is 8-10 mph or more. I don't have the fanatic system, because most of my hunting is done in Oct/Nov.
On windy, cold days I usually have to layer with a variety...
Consider how you plan to use the piece. Will most of your hunting be in 40 degrees or 20 degrees?
Also consider how it fits with the other clothing you already have. If you typically wear a wool base layer, you may not get a lot of use out of a heavier jacket.
Something that attaches climbing sticks to a hang on stand with a flat profile, but is part of the stand. I really don't like the Lone Wolf plastic stick carrier, but other options are limited.
I got these straps from Third Hand archery http://www.thirdhandarchery.com/product.asp?PRODID=13- they are designed to use with a climber. I used a girth hitch on one end to the loop on my harness, it terminates in the clip. The other strap has a carabiner on one end and a knot on the other.
I would just talk to the farmer. Some Public land in PA is really strangely landlocked or the access points are really far from anything worth hunting. Just be super polite! I'm sure property owners around public land have had a lot of terrible experiences.
I the price of Sitka and First Lite may be daunting at first, but it is worth it in the long run. Also, there are places to find deals on those clothes.
