The 10x42 HD SLCs are, IMO, the best binocular on the planet for the money. I am no engineer or optics expert. I base my opinion on looking through binos I've owned or looked through in person.
I recently got a pair of 10x42 NLs...and, yes, they are awesome and they feel wonderful. I must...
Buy a safe heavy enough that 2 or 3 guys can't carry it off. Make sure the fire rating is very good....45 or 60 min in fire temperatures. As others have said, you will run out of room within 15 seconds of using it, so get one bigger than you think you'll need. Keep in mind, the heavy ones...
Maybe some of you can educate me on this. Swarovski controls the minimum price retailers can charge. So, what makes one retailer better than another if the price is all the same? It's not hard for a retailer to process your credit card and ship you binoculars. It's not like they are handling...
My goodness...most people on here are world class athletes! 10 miles over mountains, per day, is a monumental feat! I've done 10 miles in a day with a pack on once - on flat ground, I was a teenager, and I slept 15 hours after.

I agree with Russ. Swarovski is the gold standard.
I'm looking for a new pair of Swarovski 10x42s myself.
I am not as technically savvy as most others seem to be on here when it comes to optic reviews. I can tell you this. I also own a pair of 10x42 Kahles binos that are around 10 years old...
As another poster said, Glock 29. The 10mm round can be loaded as hot or as mild as you want. It's small and can take the Glock 20 15 round mags if the stock 10 round runs out.
What he said. Double Tap 200gr hard cast is about the only ammo I keep in my Glock 29 when in the woods. Another reason for carrying a sidearm is your speed in delivering bullets into a threat that's charging. Trying to do that by unshouldering & raising a rifle up...then trying to find the...
