I’m using the Vortex Diamondback 10x42s at about 100 yards with a slight digital zoom to zoom in past the black circle that you often see on digiscope pictures. Sometimes the movement of the eye cups from the weight of the phone can be annoying but I guess I just figured out how to balance it...
I have had many elk encounters in young clearcuts during the morning and evening hours. Clearcuts seem to attract the hunters though so I’ve evolved into hunting more remote thick timber so I don’t have to deal with other hunters messing up my game plans
I definitely wouldn’t be concerned about going too much heavier with your arrow weight for deer unless you would like the option to start punching through leg bones. If you switch to hunting game that is bigger than a deer than I would suggest increasing your arrow weight a bit.
I’ve tried a disturbing amount of diaphragm calls and I keep going back to the Phelps amp frame. I think the softer tape on the calls combined with the smaller frame size just work great for my small mouth.

I’ve found that I can’t trust my senses at night because my senses keep telling me that there’s a whole pile of predators in the dark just beyond my headlamp waiting to chew on me! 😁
