Another pic from yesterday's forest preserve exploration. Going to have to check back every couple weeks and watch them grow.

Thanks BuckSnort!
Another Chicagoland whitetail. Looks like he's done a lot of fighting with those antlers, which isn't surprising given the deer density around here in these forest preserves.

Gonna guess around a 500mm lens at around F4.0 at 1/1250 sec on a ~25MP crop sensor DSLR body. Possibly Nikon.

Back in November I went out to Nebraska from Chicago to deer hunt and made my usual rest stop in Coralville, IA at Scheels to pick up some ammo and stretch my legs for a bit. To my surprise, when I perused the rimfire rifle rack they had two Tikka T1xs on the shelf, one in .17HMR and one in...

I get that, and I understand the sentiment. Maybe it's allowing the other side to 'win' but as a matter of convenience, or in this case budget, sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and shop at places that you disagree with. I applaud anyone who can consistently vote with their dollars but...
I picked up a REI house brand puffy jacket for like $85 a few years ago that fits what you are looking for. Probably going to see them on sale right about now too since they're out of season. They've got a tan, almost camo-like one for $68 right now in fact. REI Co-op Down Jacket - Men's at REI
Not to hijack your thread, but I'm pretty much in the same boat. I've been actively looking for jobs out west but finding something that either doesn't require current residency (I'm looking at you, state of CO) or wouldn't be a significant pay cut even after cost of living changes from Chicago...
Oh man, gout sucks hard. Up until about 6 months ago I had been getting a flare up every few months for a couple years but hadn't really identified it as gout until somewhat recently. I had been on and off trying to run and assumed I was injuring myself. Turns out eating shrimp makes my foot...
For most tasks I prefer a ~6-8" Japanese Gyuto style chef's knife. I have a Tojiro DP 8.2" Amazon.com: Tojiro DP Gyutou - 8.2" (21cm): Tojiro Knife: Kitchen & Dining that I use for like 99% of my cooking that doesn't involve a specialized knife like boning/filet or serrated. For boning knives...
