only put on about 25 miles, don't love them for my feet. Want to say I paid 400. Happy to sell for 250 shipped, or would consider trades for similar sizes footwear or hunting gear, though cash always talks. Please see pics for any other questions, feel free to message with any others. Thank you!
Big plus one to all the folks saying leave it in the sleeping bag with you. Bonus if you heat up water first and then you start the night off a little warmer anyhow.
This is a great post. I've spent who knows how much to shave weight, but at the same time hit a rough patch with family life and slipped to almost 30 pounds heavier than I was during September last year. Honestly hard to imagine I'm carrying that much extra weight around.
I've worked very hard to get my weight down, and still don't seem to be able to get under the low 40s. Oh well, I figure do what I can but at the end of the day I'll take what I need, and that includes all the heavy stuff the op mentions...glass being the main offender.
Strip Taxidermy only does mule deer, but they look darn good. He is very skilled.
An old timer who you won't find online, Kevin Kight is in Florida and has mounted a LOT of very good looking deer and a good number of exotics. He has done a lot for Deer & Deer Hunting Magazine covers, and...
For just startig and learning how, you may be well served to buy him a set of the primos calls, save some money and let hi try a few different feels, then can move on from there.
Personally, I do like Phelps but for whatever reason Rocky Mountain blue and red are always what I reach for first...
Realize it is past draw dates, but for future readers...I've spent some time in the area, and oh man is it over run with hikers and bikers, especially 561 with the mountain bikers. Save your time. Honestly can't get away from them. 56 is full of 4wheelers and people hiking the colorado trail.
Yeah not to just pile on, but saying you will outhike people is not exactly unique. Colorado doesnt have any wilderness areas that are large enough that you can hike for two or three days and get anywhere that some wilderness trail runner won't come up on you, and similarly other hunters are...
I'd say, generally, around treeline or the spotty vegetation terrain you will see in that terrain. If it's very densely wooded, you may be looking to use tactics other than "high country"
