Hold on to your GMU 23/26A Shorts boys

Any updates from hunters who still went up this year to hunt portions of 23 or 26a? Our hunt with GE was postponed for this year, but are hopefully they get things figured out and strategy in place to put us in a good position for 2023. I saw RAM had some luck up there with most of their hunters.

Page 92 and 93 shows the votes. Alaska native Sara Boario, who is Alaska Regional Direct or US FWS voted to approve on behalf of Fish & Wildlife Service. (BLM, National Park Service and Forest Service all voted to support as well, after all being against this motion previousloy with US FWS.)...

While it was technically a federal closure, it was disappointing to see the Alaska Fish and Game representative vote in favor of the closure at the board meeting, especially after they were so adamantly against it. In my opinion, they should have stood behind the arguments they have been making...

Ya, we sent him an email last week after the decision, but know he's probably scrambling to get things in order. Didn't want to pester him, but might give him a call later this week if we haven't heard back just to get an idea as to what our contingencies are.

That’s concerning. They aren’t giving you any options to hunt 26a or state land this year? But there really aren’t any refunds for your deposits on these hunts.

Chucko, from a timing standpoint, is the state land decent throughout the season? Looking at the main chunk that is between the Noatak and Kobuk Rivers and based upon migration reports through Alaska fish and game, it seems as though that area isn't a heavy migration corridor and they may not...

I'd be interested in hearing if 26a is decent to hunt and if so if there are times that are better than others. I'm worried if you wait until Sept, most of the caribou will be gone from 26a into 23.
