I have 1 but there's a few things about it that I don't like. It's not as form fitting as the R1 and it's a little short. It can't be unzipped to vent heat so I get to hot wearing it a lot of the time.

I recommend Nimh rechargeables over Ni-cad. I like the eneloop pro batteries the most for flashlights and other high drain devices.

Rab has a similar baselayer as the firstlite aerowool. I think they call it the merino+ baselayer. They're available in 120 and 160gsm.

Zebralight, Olite, fenix, skillhunt and armytek are all great. Whichever light you get make sure it's neutral white not cool white.

I'd rather have a thin baselayer and a fleece midlayer like the Patagonia r1 or a thinner grid fleece. It's much better moisture management that way instead of a heavy wool baselayer.

I like the gyrfalcon all 44 charger. It's not tedious to use really. I think the only time it's tedious is when charging a lot of small batteries like NIMH AAA's when you need to charge at a slower current and then each channel needs to be adjusted to that current individually(maybe there's a...
Eddie Bauer downlight jacket and some of their hiking pants and high route fleece hoody I like a lot. I like the Brynje mesh baselayers when it's cold and I want a fast drying baselayer. Patagonia r1 pullover is my go to midlayer and a melanzana high loft hoody is a more insulated midlayer I...
Eddie Bauer has merino/poly blend that I find to not itch at all. I've used a lot of brands and really like the eddie Bauer stuff.

Eddie Bauer has a nice fleece hoody and when on sale it's reasonably priced. I buy terramar baselayers on Sierra trading post on sale same with darn tough socks. Outer layers I don't know too much about camo options. I'd try to find just a polyester shell and layer it over his other stuff...
Goose feet gear is great. I need to get some pants made yet but I had Ben make a custom down muff for me and the quality is fantastic. I think I want a down balaclava made too for sleeping in the cold since I hate hoods on my sleeping bag or quilt.

Buff has no seams which is great. Can get whatever thickness you're looking for as well. Another option is the Eddie Bauer multi clava which is a thinner merino/poly blend. I used my Eddie Bauer all year at work as a sweat band and face mask and I highly recommend it for a lightweight fast...
Just throwing it out there in case you like the idea. The airblaster merino suit is pretty nice to wear over a baselayer t shirt. Ice breaker has a similar suit too. I've found the airblaster on Amazon for like $80 compared to its $200 retail price.

I'd replace the chama for the halstead hoody and the zip t I'd drop and wear the jetstream then a heavier outer layer that's windproof.

I've been using a Brynje mesh baselayer under a merino for better moisture management. The mesh when it gets wet still breathes unlike solid knit baselayers and dries much faster.

I have the frost line and wear it ice fishing and pretty much everyday during the winter. I'd wear it hunting but I got it in blue which is not the best way to go when hunting whitetail deer.

I'd only spend more for the h600fc mk4 which has hi cri and less tint deviation. Otherwise I'd get mk2 in neutral white which is what I've been using for 3 years now. Max lumens isn't that important compared to tint, cri and beam profile.

Here's the post I mentioned. Scroll down to the last few posts to find the method to treat the scales.

I have the same knife and EDC it and it shows no wear at all. What pants are you wearing? Maybe that's the cause of scratches.
