    Climate change...deer numbers

100% agree. I see all the time guys complaining on Facebook saying "XYZ is the reason why our turkeys are dying off." "No its not that, its really reason ABC" The truth is its a combination of ALL of those reasons. And until the AGFC starts to do something the population will continue to...

    Climate change...deer numbers

I think the biggest thing with our turkey population in Arkansas is predators. People use to coon hunt and trap coyotes, etc. No one does that anymore, and the predators are out of control. I get about as many coons and coyotes on my trail cams as I do deer. I can count on one hand the number of...

    Pack frame for saddle hunting

I run an F1 mainframe with batwings.....do you have any photos of your setup? Id like to run a Bandit on the mainframe but not sure how it would attach. I like the batwings but not enough compartmentalization for what I need.

    Mountain Whitetail Kill Kit

One good reason I carry a saw is because Im not good at caping out a deer. So if its a nice buck that Im going to want to mount, Im going to cape it down to the head then sever it at C2 or so with the saw. Ill let the taxidermist do the hard part. If its not a deer Im interested in mounting...

My personal best here. 10 point 19.5 inches wide. Scored about 138 if I remember correctly. Taken with my .243 in Arkansas in 2018

I’m a lot like archeryus…..I use the mainframe pack and day hunt whitetail deep in public areas. I use the bat wings. I have enjoyed the pack so far, but I do wish they offered a pack that had more compartment storage. Most of their packs are very large open sacks that may be good for a long...

    All around deer hunting cartridge.

My 2 cents (which is worth less than that) would be the 308. You can find a bullet size small enough to do the job for a varmint and larger sizes to take the bigger game. Decent velocity with low recoil. Only issue would be distance. At longer ranges there's obviously more effective rounds.

    Newbie rifle question

Thanks for the reply. 1.) As far as cerakote, does it truly improve the longevity of the rifle? I can be pretty rough on my equipment due to the terrain I drag it through. 2.) Since the 270 is a longer cartridge, if I started with a 6.5 CM I could still use a 270 barrel in the future? Im...

    Newbie rifle question

So I have decided to take the plunge and buy a nice hunting rifle. For background, I have only ever hunted whitetails in my home state of Arkansas since I was about 8 years old (now 35). During that time, I typically used a Remington Woodsmaster 742 chambered in 243 that my grandfather bought...
