My zero degree bag is 3 lbs and it’s worth the extra weight during rifle season. I think I paid $275 for it in 2002.
Check out a marmot never summer for a reasonable cost zero degree bag. Saw one for about $300.
Zero degree sleeping bag for me anytime I’m back country, regardless of camp setup.
I don’t know why people want to keep all their gear inside. We use a 6 man tipi with stove. 3 guys is no problem. We leave our rifles and rucks outside with the rucks packed with optics, kill kits and such...
My wife is vegan (15 years). I eat what she cooks and throw an elk loin or a pork chop on my plate as I choose. Her diet is probably better for our health if you honestly look at it. I’m a slut for good meat dishes like elk chili, ribeye, pork souvlaki, lamb chops, red snapper, etc., I...
Conrad's chili
Brown 3 or 4 packs of elk burger with some oil. I typically use olive oil. After browning add meat and all the oil to crock pot.
Add following:
1 can of beer
1 regular can of corn
1 medium can of of ranch style beans (26 ounces?)
2 big cans of medium rotel
(28 ounces each ?)...
In Oklahoma we have easement by necessity. Suspect most other states have something akin.
If federal land is landlocked or not reasonably approachable, the federal government’s should simply sue these killjoys to create a corner easement for perpetuity and be done with it. Crush them with the...
Three loads that I have worked up. All with federal brass and fgmm primers
200 Accubond
77.5 grains of H1000
175 LRX
80.5 grains of H1000
200 LRX
77 grains H1000
Obviously work up and who knows what your tool will like.
I got lasik.
I used to wear contacts. The only time I ever got eye infections (twice) was elk hunting. After rolling around in the dirt, gathering fire wood, putting together my box stove, handling dirty tack as we load pack animals, etc., never could keep my hands clean enough. For those who...
Honestly the Danner boots that come in 2E or even 4E boots are really comfortable in the toe box and heels. They don’t last as long as the Italian or German stuff so it’s a trade off.
I was a rifle platoon leader (89-92) in the regular army and can say the AR worked just fine. The only thing I didn’t like was the burst. It threw my timing off when I tried it a few times early on where I tried it myself on close contact drills. Thereafter, I had the guys keep ours on...
Buried her in the desert after choking her out - 85%
Dumped her in the middle of nowhere and somebody else grabbed her -10%
She died by suicide as a big FU to get even with him - 5%
Maybe go old school and get a MR NICE frame pack. That frame is notoriously short for most people but might be perfect for you. There are several very good packs that fit that frame. Some have built in higher load lift extenders and others do not.
Was on north slope of Brooks range at a camp spot right off the road to Prudhoe Bay, AK, glassing for caribou. The one on the left right as the mountains peter out into the flat tundra.
An oil rig trucker pulled up and jumped out breathlessly telling the news. We drove straight to Prudhoe and...
Pure elk. You just need to add some olive oil. Here are Greek style meatballs I made with elk.
Garlic, salt, pepper, oregano, Parmesan cheese. Mix it all up. Fry in olive oil.
Should powder those dogs every morning when you put your socks on.
Every night take your socks off to dry in your sleeping bag while your feet recuperate.
I took a .22 pistol and suppressor last year. We busted a few grouse and holy smokes were they good eating. Breasted out and coated with crushed ritz crackers. Fried in olive oil. Had them with peach cobbler
