Got my first mule deer ever this season, tough hunt in SE MT after a snow storm the day before my arrival. Very little deer movement the whole hunt. Last day with 3 hours remaining, Ridge to ridge 380 yard shot with 215 Berger out of a 300 Norma. Pretty happy with my last minute buck.
It proves the point that you don’t need a 5k rig to shoot well.
I just picked up a Rem 700 SPS tactical in 223 with a 16.5 inch barrel, in part from what I’ve learn here. Took it out this weekend and it shoots 3/4 MOa with factory 73 gr ELDM 🤣
This has been an eye opener for me, now I’m depressed because I’m gonna have to stop blaming the hot barrel for me sucking at shooting. Thanks for putting the time and effort. Also, the ballistic podcast with Shoot2Hunt was fire.
I have a one, CVA Optima, Nitrided, have the breach plug for 209. Comes with bases for the scope, two breach plugs, 209 and regular black powder, bullet starter. New, never been out of my safe. 50 cal, PM me if interested.
Ditch the 300 wsm, I loved mine, but I could not find any good brass so I sold it and got a 300 WM, Lapua and Peterson brass available, and you’ll get plenty of performance out of a 22 inches shooting Berger 215s, just my opinion.
