I tried a bunch of different boots and for early season, just about anything works. Late season when it's cold I use battery powered socks...even heavily insulated boots get cold after an all day sit on the stand. I power up the socks off and on to keep my toes warms.
Just saw Speer had the Impact bullets out for 30 Cal and .264. Looks like the Gold Dot bullet with a polymer tip and higher BC. Just wondering if anyone has tried them out yet. I have had good success with the Gold Dots in the past, so these make me curious.

If you are already familiar with the .308, get that. Inside of 400-500 yards I don’t think there’s enough difference to worry too much about. I use a 6.5 as well and both kill deer…so does my .223. Just get what you want and shoot it, deer won’t know the difference.
Hunting from the ground would be a great way to start. But if you want to get up a tree, a saddle is my favorite option these days. I used to pack stands around, but now I just use a set of climbing sticks and a saddle.
