Rifle scopes you'd love to see Form test

I don't disagree with you at all, perhaps it is driven by the number crunches. But I get the feeling they be right to do so. For everyone person that says the hate doughnuts there's another who loves "the circle of death". For everyone who says they just want a reliable FFP/Mil scope there is...

Rifle scopes you'd love to see Form test

Perhaps I quoted the wrong post of yours, shouldv'e quoted this one. I tend to agree with Caberslash that it's not simply a marketing/name brand issue as to why Bushnell couldn't sell the LRHS/LRTS, it's that the market isn't big enough for Bushnell to invest in, if it were they would've seen...

Rifle scopes you'd love to see Form test

Is it not the case though the same hunters who wouldn't touch a Bushnell scope because they were bad 10 years ago are the kind that wouldn't buy a FFP/Mil scope anyway? I find it hard to believe that people calling for better FFP/Mil scopes are almost mutually exclusive with the average hunter...

    What optic should I get

I don't particularly rate the HS/HST series, they were very similar to the PST Gen1 but overall a worse scope. I upgraded from a HST 4-16 to aVX5hd 3-15, but as I got into competitive shooting wanted FFP and Mil so went to the PST Gen2 and have had great performance ever since. A lot of...

    What optic should I get

What is the history of the Vortex Venom for failure? I bet most people haven't even tried one as they have one out since the drop tests started I do however agree a used 5-20 for $800 is actually a good suggestion you are now recommending scopes in the $900-1200(or even 1500) price bracket...

What vortex models did you have out of interest?

    What optic should I get

The 3-15 PST I've been using for the past 5ish years begs to differ, as have been my experience with many other Vortex scopes (although I'd never recommend the budget models). I appreciate the drop tests are gospel here, and I can even agree that a bulletproof 3-9 scope is probably what most...

    What optic should I get

The only NF under $1000 is the SHV 3-10 and that is a pretty lack luster scope. The only Trijicons under $1000 are all hunting scopes or LPVOs. The SWFAs in that range are either out of stock or very low magnification (the exception being the 3-15 non HD and I'd take my PST 3-15 over that any...

SWFA website updated; More to come in 2024

Did I make it up that the article was written by Ilya? If it was you could try asking him on the SWFA thread on the Hide.

    What optic should I get

If you can afford to move up to the next bracket ($500-$700) then there are some really good budget scopes. The PST Gen 1 was ok in it's day but is surpassed by then newer designs, the being said the 6-24 model was one of the better ones in the Gen 1 range. The PST Gen2 is a big step up from...

    Maven RS1.2 2.5-15x44 new model

I was only joking not need apologize. I 100% agree tha Leupold makes the nicest looking scopes, some wood/blued rifles only look right with a Leupold scope.

    Maven RS1.2 2.5-15x44 new model

That's a pretty harsh criticism, those Leupold knock offs looked terrible! Knowing a little about where the Apex scopes are made, I find this 3-15 pretty interesting as they seem to have made quite a few changes from the standard scope that OEM produces. while tree reticles aren't everyone's...

    Maven RS1.2 2.5-15x44 new model

I was more responding to the idea assumption a robust scope has to be heavy, while two of the most reliable scopes in the drop tests have been around the 20oz mark, and most of the 26-46oz scopes haven’t passed the tests. You are right in that weight is the by product of the features of a scope...

    Maven RS1.2 2.5-15x44 new model

The point is scopes don't have to be heavy to be reliable, not too mention how many heavy scopes aren't even reliable. The NXS 2.5-10 and SWFA are probably the most popular scopes I'm the category this will be playing in and both are around 20oz. Hence my comments about this being uninspiring.

    Maven RS1.2 2.5-15x44 new model

The way it tends to work with most of these companies is that they just take a base model offered by an OEM (LOW in this case) make a few changes and put there name on it. I'm not suggesting this is a bad business model, or suggesting that a company cannot make meaningful changes. More just...

    Maven RS1.2 2.5-15x44 new model

I'm really not that excited by this scope. Looks like another standard LOW scope that doesn't really do anything amazing, other than maybe pass a drop test. The reticle is mediocre (their "subtensions" don't even say how thick it is) it's a bit porky at 26oz, the FOV is pretty narrow. Unless...

Curious why so many Xmas reticle’s if everyone dials

So basically a simplifies THLR or a Mil version of the Revic RH2. Not sure I'd classify that as universal, but it's definitely something that would appeal to many Roksliders.

Curious why so many Xmas reticle’s if everyone dials

I've done a reasonable amount of hunting with tree reticles and don't have an issue with them per se. Unless you are on 10x or higher the tree ends to disappear and even at higher magnification if you don't look for it you don't really notice it. The issue with tree reticles is the same issue...

Curious why so many Xmas reticle’s if everyone dials

The Maven RS1.2 2.5-15x44 and Apex Hunter 3-15x44 would be an interesting comparison. They both look to be going after the same market (loosely a 3-12 LRHS replacement).

Curious why so many Xmas reticle’s if everyone dials

The one complaint I have with the 7c is the lack of .2mil hashes on the vertical stadia. The 7d fixes that, so it's a fraction better than the 7c.
