Shouldered McGowen 300 WSM, 18" 1-9, threaded 5/8-24, heavy contour. Bought this on the Hide back in December. I thought it was a Remington magnum sporter contour, but it's much heavier than that- more like heavy varmint. Original seller says it has roughly 150 rounds on it. I spun it onto my...
Yup- my reamer is .2964" and even though my loaded round is .291, a bullet still won't drop freely into a fired case. Makes me think the PTG spec is likely off a smidge. Let your actual fired case tell the story. Turning necks is a pain, but once it's done and you have your brass at a healthy...
B23 is spot on, but I would aim for more clearance if you can. In my experience, you are better off with a bit extra clearance, than just barely enough.
Thanks guys. Rifle was chambered with one of the earlier GA Prec. spec reamers. Initial loads were with a very old lot of H1000, and I couldn't get 140 amax above 2650 fps! At the time, I didn't have any other suitable powder, so I just loaded up the cases I had prepped and shot them over the...
I built up a 6.5 Saum a while back. 22" Brux 1-8.5" #3 contour, on a Rem 700 SA. At the time, Rem brass was all that was availble, so I converted 100pcs of .300 SAUM brass. At this point I have fired those 100cases, and I'm ready to seriously start working on a load. I have RL26, H1000, H4831SC...
I really like Forster FL dies. The expander ball is just the right shape to slide throught the neck easily, making for smooth sizing. Having said that, I would definitly contact Hornie about the issue with your current die.
I have had my LR since 2017. It was always pretty inconsistent until I got the external trigger, which helped quite a bit, but still didn't make it completely reliable. I'm surprised to hear that some units seem to be much more consistent at capturing shots than others. I'm not going to replace...
Gunwerks, and a gent over on 24hourcampfire. I haven't tried it yet, because my dies haven't arrived yet, but the word is 6.5 PRC can also be necked up. A bit of a pain, but then you have something beside Hornady brass.
I don't think I would want to try this if I wasn't going to load for...
