    Best Mule Deer Photo Contest

Daughters Doe. How about this one. My daughter made a tough 175 yard shot on this bedded doe. She only went about 30 yards before collapsing! To top it off, she was radio collared! It may only be a doe, but its a huge trophy for me. To be on this hunt with her was awesome!

    KUIU Icon 5000

Griz - (For the icon 6000 - which is very similar to the 5/7000) You can very easily attach the gun to the pack along the sides using the lower pouches to hold the buttstock. as for the bow, it can be strapped to the back of the pack using the existing straps/buckles. As far as loading - you...

I have the older 6000 bag and the new frame. All I can say is that I am very very happy with it. I packed into my camp over 3 miles with 70# of gear (Carried a ground blind in with me that added 20#) No issues. Hunted for a few days in daypack mode and didnt even feel like I was wearing a...

    Colorado Success! First Archery Elk

a3d, Any elk is a trophy with archery gear. Add to it Solo, OTC Unit, and Public land - well I'm all smiles. Yours is a great bull too, and was Solo - OTC - Public. Best thing about it is the memories and the satisfaction of knowing you did it (and everything you did to prepare for it).

Awesome Job a3d - Awesome Bull - All that hard work this summer paid off. Glad you had a packer lined up - best deal going. Fortunatly I only had 2 miles for mine. When I was packing mine out I was trying to think of how many miles I walked last summer and this summer to be in shape for the...

    Colorado Success! First Archery Elk

Thanks Paul. After the first shot I tried to quickly give a calming cow call on my Mello Yellow - In the excitement I think it came out sounding more like a combination of a cat getting its tail stepped on crossed with fingers across the chalkboard. The second attempt came out much better...

Here is a picture of the 6X6 I took yesterday. Found him still-hunting a ridgeline. He didnt know I was there and I took him with a 50 yard shot. First shot was double lung but edges not solid, was able to connect with a follow up to put him down for good. My First archery Elk!

oatmeal for breakfast during the hunt

Last year I did the oatmeal and coffee thing. it was OK, but got old quick and it was hot and the coffee/oatmeal made you hotter. I also had some granola/breakfast bars and those were good. So this year I am goin gto mix it up. Taking cereal and powdered milk along with tea bags. When...

The older lockdown is good, but the new 'redesigned' one is even better. I have the old one and really like it. New one has a wide protective lid for the objective lenses, and the backstrap is modified to make it ride a bit more comfortably. Wouldnt hesitate to recomend the lockdown.. As...
