Sitka Traverse + Solid color discussion

I have two traverse jackets, subalpine and black. Wore the black during rifle in Montana a couple of years ago. Didn't seem to affect anything blending in wise and we were wearing blaze orange vests anyway. Super warm, but breathable. I wear the black one at home alot if I'm hiking or other...

How much of a difference does brass and primer make?

Used once fired hornady to load up some 41.5gr H4350 with 140HPBT. Accuracy around a inch, sometimes better. Got some Lapua with the same load and it changed to a consistent half inch for three shots that was repeatable. I didn't think brass made a difference other than powder volume and...

    Worthwhile to Upgrade Hunting Optic?

Get Strelok PRO and check out the reticle part of the app. It will give you a idea of what distances will look like in with the reticle you have. I've always heard never hold off hair for normal hunting distances (east coast).

    Cooper Tires

Went with the Cooper AT3 and am very happy 500 miles in. Not very noisy and handle well. I'll be very pleased if I get the miles from them that is warrantied. More aggressive than I was thinking, but not much more noise so its a wash.

    Book List for 2023

Looking to read more this year. I am working my way through "Stolen Focus" and it is fascinating. Looking to broaden up to stuff I have not read about yet. What books are you reading this year?

    Irish Whiskey

Writers Tears is the only whiskey I buy now. So good in a glass with a little ice.

    Area 419 Hellfire

reduces recoil well, but it is the loudest brake I've been around. Could easily feel the overpressure at the indoor range. All brakes are loud at the indoor range, but this one was special. That being said, I want one on my next threaded barrel.

    Outdoor Work Pants

Wrangler Fleece lined ATG pants. Not the best with Briars, but should be usable for several seasons. Or Eddie Bauer fleece lined pants if you want to pay more for the name.

    Tula Ammo

Works good for fast drills up close. Like no farther than 25-50 yards. I can’t get it to group any better than 4-6” at 100yds out of my AR. Granted it’s 223, but seen the same with the 308.

Looking for the Right Tripod Set-up

This is what I bought. Add Arca Rail to rifle and go to town. If you end up shooting from a tripod alot, then you csn upgrade to the equipment thats best. This setup is really stable(almost as stable as prone when standing). Light enough to carry in and you can clip your pack underneath to...

    Outdoor Work Pants

Well Gents-sounds like its time to start a survey subforum! I like fancy hunting gear, but I cant imagine using Kuiu for work. I do love when stuff for work lines up with my hobbies though. I'm a field coordinator for a environmental engineering firm. Supposed to be a inside guy, but being...

    Outdoor Work Pants

Been surveying 20+ years. Pants evolution started with Tru-spec 24/7 cargo pants. Moved to some Eddie Bauer pants which can be had at decent prices with sales. Have moved onto the wrangler ATG series due to cheaper cost and honestly a better product. ATG has double front pants like Carhart...

    Cooper Tires

Wow, Thanks for all the input guys. I saw that Walmart had decent prices at least compared to the BFGs we put on our work trucks. Never bought tires from Walmart and may not, but it got me thinking about Black Friday Sales and new tires and here we are. Thanks again for all the feedback. It...

    Cooper Tires

Anyone running any version of the Cooper Discoverer? Some good deals for Black Friday and I may grab a set for the Sequoia. If not good, what are you guys running on 75% highway-25% offroad large SUV tires?

Best rifle strap for Tikka TAC A1 chasis

Second the Kifaru Gunbearer. That Tikka will be heavy hanging on a sling and bouncing around. The slings made for tactical rifles will not be more comfortable to use than the Gunbearer. Gunbearer integrates seamlessly with what pack you are using. Side note-I have a tactical rifle that...

Mesa Precision Arms Carbon Fiber Altitude Stock

Triad worked great. I was just pissed to buy a carbon stock that I had to add weight to for function. I feel like the Rem700 adjustable cheekpiece MESA would be a great stock.
